Hi Folks,
Can anyone help. I had a Loan for a car via carcraft in 1999. I thought it was with Chartered House Trust or something like that and think it then went over to Black horse. Any ideas how i might push to get details of my loan bearing in mind it was now 10 years ago. I was forced to take out very expensive PPI at the time. Anyone have any idea what happened to Chartered house trust.
Dan
Hi Dan
As its have been some time ago, it may be difficult to retrieve any of the information, but this also depends on if this is still active, or how long ago this was paid off as such.
For instance if you paid this off in full the last say 5/6 years then you may be lucky to have something from them in means of a Subject Access Request (SAR), where they have 40 days to comply, but you should enclose a Cheque payment or postal order of £10, if they are unable to supply you with any details then they should write back to explain and of course return your payment.
SAR template letter here:

If your not sure in who to pursue, then maybe give the Financial ombudsman Service (FOS) a ring, they will check if they have them listed, and if for some reason these were not covered/governed by GISC where the FSA taken over in Jan 2005, in this case the FOS are unable to deal with this, but they may suggest another avenue with the actual insurer instead.
The FOS are also trying to make the insurer/underwriter responsible, but in your case I would ring them and ask them first, where in fact they may even write to them on your behalf if you request for this.
But you will have to try to find out who the insurer was first if you can.
If you still have the account number without any of the paperwork details you can still continue to try to reclaim, then see what they come back with, where they may even send back information within their letter response, such as the agreement, if they still have a copy and maybe other details.

Good luck, please keep us posted.;)

I wrote to the Halifax about PPI they had missold me when I took out a loan 5 years ago - I only sent the letter a week ago. Had a phone call today confirming that they had upheld my complaint and that all the money I paid out will be refunded into my bank account. Can't tell you how much that helps me out at the moment - clears a credit card bill. Jumping for joy!:j
fantastic news, it was yours anyway so great to hear you have it back

Carcraft/Hitatchi Capital
£2100
Went to the Ombudsman, held out and won
Had to get a car desperately for new job job, Carcraft were the old people prepared to give me credit and I had to get a car asap. Vile salesman told me he couldn`t agree the credit without PPI, went along with it, made payments for 18 months & found out he had lied, after 2 letters to Carcraft case went to the ombudsman, dragged on for 9 months but got a cheque in full, still with a nasty letter from carcraft, which has come in handy as my wife is 7 months pregnant.
Thank you to everyone on this site.
well done on getting your money back, its worth all the extra effort of going to the FOS

- What were you reclaiming: Credit Card PPI
- Who was the provider: MBNA
- How much did you get back:£4442
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Template letter then follow up
- And then write your brief reclaim tale
- I had already got £1500 back from Alliance & leicester (part of MBNA) but had been refused . I wrote with copy of their offer on A&L and said I thought they were unreasonable to give on one but not the other. Quick response back - sending me a cheque in post! :TJust a refund of all premiums - now wondering wether to chase for interest as well - they obviously feel guilty.
- TOTAL back £5900!!!!!!!!!!!! Not bad for a couple of letters. I would recommend everyone to have a go:beer:

Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: all dealings with Barclaycard without FOS referral
Wrote to Barclaycard with my complaint for miss-selling of PPI,
recieved a questionaire which i returned with supporting infrmation,
after the 8 weeks they are allowed i got a letter saying they will refund me all premiums plus interest.
will go through the calculations later to check the interest as this seems a bit low. but £7.5k is £7.5k, this is their final response.
its a shame Lloyds ar enot as efficient in their handling of claims.
i would like ot say a thank you to all the people who have offered me advice in the past, in particular Di, Marshallka and Tiggrea, it was a nice surprise to recieve this upon my return from sunny Wales
thanks0
