  • Started with a small loan with HSBC 6 years ago and gradually kept adding to it, not knowing anything about PPI, finally paid off the balance of £14,000 last year!

Sent the letter to HSBC beginning of January, a few kind, gentle reminder phonecalls later and I received a settlement figure last Friday - refunded in full £7,558.17!!!!

    Very happy bunny!!!

    • What were you reclaiming: Credit Card PPI
    • Who was the provider: MBNA/Virgin
    • How much did you get back:£953.21 + £115.03 interest = £1068.24
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 Template letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
Sent modified template letter on 28th Jan 2010, recieved reply on 4th Feb saying they were looking into it etc. Got a phone call on 26th Feb looking for proof that I was self employed when they sold me the card/policy in the first place (my grounds for being mis-sold the policy). I faxed them National Insurance contributions from the time (2002). Had a phone call back later that day offering to refund all the policy I had paid. I said "What about interest?", girl from MBNA paused and said "OK, we can do that, £115.03".
Just waiting for it to be applied to my account now, 3-4 days i was told.

Absolutely delighted with the outcome, thanks to Martin and all in the site who contributed! :j:beer::j

  • What were you reclaiming: PPI
Who was the provider: Northern Rock
How much did you get back: over £900
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the financial ombudsman: one template letter

I simply used the first template letter and sent it to Northern Rock. Received acknowledgement two weeks ago and today received their final offer= cost of the PPI plus 8% interest. If I'm honest I couldn't remember whether my loan qualified or not, but I thought it was worth ago and success straight away. Happy days!

    • What were you reclaiming: PPI on loan
    • Who was the provider: Egg
    • How much did you get back: £670.26 PPI premium & £226.85 interest = £897.11
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 template letter (sort of!)
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
I send the first and the second template letters some time ago and got nothing, but it turns out that I was using an old London address. Once I used this address:

    Customer Relations Office
    Egg
    Riverside Road
    Pride Park
    Derby
    DE99 3GG

I received a reply to the letter sent on the 1st of March today (the 8th) stating that after carrying out a full review of my complaint they have arranged to all premiums charged to my account to be refunded in full, together with the associated interest charges. :D

My only tip - use the correct address!

  • Success! £13000!!

Sent off the letter for my mother. She had 2 cards, didn't have a clue what she was paying. She was paying PPI on one of them and has done for years. I complained stating she wasnt aware of the ppi or what it was and why pay for insurance on one card and not both.

Took a couple of months but have received a letter today with the refund dating back to 1994.

Just one letter, that's all it took.

Total PPI refunds - Barclays loan £6k, Barclaycard £13k.:T
