  • What were you reclaiming: PPI on Credit Card
    Who was the provider: Barclaycard
How much did you get back: £7,500
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: all dealings with Barclaycard without FOS referral

Wrote to Barclaycard with my complaint for miss-selling of PPI,
recieved a questionaire which i returned with supporting infrmation,
after the 8 weeks they are allowed i got a letter saying they will refund me all premiums plus interest.

will go through the calculations later to check the interest as this seems a bit low. but £7.5k is £7.5k, this is their final response.

its a shame Lloyds ar enot as efficient in their handling of claims.

i would like ot say a thank you to all the people who have offered me advice in the past, in particular Di, Marshallka and Tiggrea, it was a nice surprise to recieve this upon my return from sunny Wales

    thanks
I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free

My update with LLoyds ever since they reviewed a "final decison" on request, as we were not happy with the offer, this was a few weeks back now, so they agreed to take another look as originally for the 2 loan ppi they gave an offer on one acceptance slip for the 2 of those.
They made mistakes with dates and calculations etc.
And they did not give a finding for all reasons either, so all this was pointed to them.

(I know I have posted this a few times now) lol, but they then contacted us by saying they have reviewed and overturned in our favour, this remains to be seen.......

As from the 18th FEB they said 2 acceptance slips and letters were sent - they never arrived.

Then last Thursday they state they re-issued and sent out again.........they did not arrive.

Two days ago we made further contact by emailing Customer care section, and by phone, who said they will post by recorded delivery and they should be with us yesterday, as you can guess they never arrived, was told then we would receive them today by recorded delivery.
    Again not arrived.........
So I decided to give them a call and request for the tracking number, and then asked to be put through to the Manager, they hesitated and I told them we have kept all emails and all evidence of the last few weeks, and if they don't deal with this now, then it will go further!

They could not provide me with a tracking number, simply because when we spoken to the manager today, he admitted they had not even been sent out yet, not even when they said on the 18th FEB......

However, he promised to get on with them today and was full of apologies, so we shall see now what happens in tomorrow post!!

    Very incompetent indeed!
Told them that, could not help myself.

    Talk about stalling tactics!!!

  • Thanks so much for your help again. I did speak with the FOS this pm. The adjudicator who handled my complaint has left, shame she was excellent. At the point of claiming on the (now)settled one I mentioned that I had accepted one "goodwill" offer and that I didn't think I could claim on that one- full and final etc. So it did not receive a claim number at the time.

However it now seems that I have to write to HFC and make another complaint, wait 8 weeks etc- you all know the stuff, and then refer to FOS if no luck.

    So..I'll give it a go.

Thanks so much and will certainly keep you posted.:A

    your welcome too.

i have looked at the numbers and i think they are being a bit cheeky with the interest calculation,

effectively they have estimated the first 4 years premiums by averaging them out to come ot a figure which i happy for them to do, they have then worked out the compound interest on this, this is the first calculation

secondly they then started the ppi again from scratch from the records they have (from 2004), instead of adding these to the earlier averaged total to produce a continuing cumulative total.

becasue this has been done as 2 seperate calculations the difference in compound interest is about 2.4k in their favour.

although this letter did say its their final response they have left the door slightly open by asking me to let them know if i don't agree witht he numbers and can provide details.

so i'll sned a spreadsheet pointing out that this is how the FOS would make the calcultaion.

they have of course added the 8% as well where applicable.

    will keep all updated.
