  • £2500 reclaimed from the HSBC within 6 weeks.

I downloaded a template letter from the Money saving expert website and amended the information to match my own.

I got a couple of letters saying they were looking into it then I recieved a letter saying that they did not accept that my 'allegations' were true, but they would pay out £2500, but because they were paying out they would not investigate the individual claims ( basically I was told I would prob be declined for a loan if I didn't take out the PPI & I'm asmatic so couldn't have claimed anyway ).

Why would they pay out if they didn'y believe the what I was saying was true !! Tut tut.

I got all my prems back and also 8% interest. Thanks Martin ( & the rest of the team ). Now to go after Littlewoods : )

    Hi all,
    MBNA Credit card!
    £1400
A few letters comencing December 30th 2009 - present date! No Ombudsmen involvement.
I took out a credit card with MBNA a few years ago (1998), and vaguely remember a telephone conversation about possible credit limit (which they couldn't tell me) and payment protection cover prior to completing the forms. However, this is only a vaque memory and I had no dates, times or names. I decided to try and claim anyway as I was sure the lady at MBNA had told me to tick the boxes on the form. I didn't really expect to get much out of this, especially after their first rejection letter, however I stuck at it. I sent them a letter stating that I wasn't happy with their response and I felt they had taken advantage of my obvious financial naivety! It seems to have done the trick, I got an offer letter ( a goodwill gesture) for £1400 which I am going to accept.
The total premiums were more than that, but as this was a direct mail application and there was no sales person present I think I've done quite well out of it!!
My advice to everyone is DON'T GIVE UP!:)

My friend took out a loan with LVE or Frizell in 2002 which was settled in 2004. During that period she paid £1914 in PPI with additional amount of £512 in interest.

We wrote to them on 3 February and received a letter on 26 February offering her a refund of full amount plus interest at 8% totalling £956. A grand total of £3409. :rotfl:We used the template letter with some adjustments.

Our fight continues though, because the LVE loan was settled with another from GE Capital who added more than £4000 on PPI and are refusing to look at her complaint because it was taken out more than 6 years ago. Seems strange that LVE can sort matters out for something that was done 8 years ago and was settled whereas GE Capital cant when it was 6 years and a couple of months and the loan is still in place.

    Hi there, and Congratulations.

I think LV were governed/covered by GISC, the FSA taken over in Jan 2005, and GE was not.

I had won a case by LV as well, it only taken about 3-4 weeks and that was with being paid out, so luckily though no quabbles and everything run smoothly for us with this one, but we were not under GE.

I would contact the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), explain the situation, and ask about the insurer instead, many of us have gone this direction, where they would to what I know of been covered by those above regulators.
So do give them a ring and ask about this first and see what they have to say, good luck.

Its another direction if all else fails.;)

  • Hi

Just wanted to let everyone know that we've finally had an offer through from Lloyds. These were loans from well over 6 years ago!!!

We had to be on their case the whole time & it has taken since last July to get this far but we have just accepted an offer of £3337 as a refund including interest!!! so pleased.

I am now going to go after Nationwide, does anyone know what the success rate is with them. The paperwork is fairly conclusive & states about the PPI on it, however it was sold up front with added interest (which I thought they weren't allowed to do?) & we were given no option- it was implied we wouldn;t get the loan if we didn;t take it. Any thoughts???

Brilliant, well done and Congratulations on your LLoyds Reclaim.

I have no experience with Nationwide, but you do have a good case, so good luck with this and maybe someone who have had dealings with these will post up of their experience of these, fingers crossed.

  • Hi and help please.

So many thanks to all of your emails and information. I have successfully got £11K back from HFC after they would not uphold but the FOS did. However on another HFC account they refunded PPI + 8% interest as "goodwill".
No mention was made that could go to FOS and no compund interest paid.

Having seen how much was refunded on a smaller loan should I go back after them for the compund interest.

I'm not greedy but after the hassle feel that have been shortchanged by HFC.

    Thanks.
