  • What were you reclaiming: PPI
Who was the provider: First Plus
How much did you get back: £12,300 9& interest)
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 letter.

Just had big success with first plus.

We had 2 crippling loans with first plus and we were given the PPI cover as part of the deal - with the usual bulls***. We were going through a hard time and bought every word.

We cleared the loans (by remortgaging) and thought nothing else of it until I read this site. I sent them a letter requesting a refund of the PPI payments plus interest.

We received first letter from them acknowledging claim and promising to reply within 4 weeks. After 4 weeks we received another letter saying they were trying to trace recordings of our telephone applications and they will reply in another 8 weeks.

A couple of weeks later we received a letter offering us £12,300 & interest , as a goodwill gesture and no admission of guilt.

We are now awaiting the cheque.

My advice to everyone is to go for it. These companies are at it and profit from the vunerable

    • What were you reclaiming: PPI on a loan
    • Who was the provider: Egg
    • How much did you get back: £8223.09
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: ???? Just 1 letter
After reading about the misselling of PPI on the main site I and researching how much Egg had previously been fined for misselling I thought I'd start the process. I downloaded the letter and amended it to reflect the fact I was told my loan was dependant on taking out PPI. I received a standard response saying my complaint was being investigated and they would get back to me within 8 weeks. 2 days before the 8 weeks was up I got a text message alert from my bank telling me I'd had a credit of £8223.09. A day later I received a letter from Egg telling me I would be refunded and it was as easy as that. The one thing they didn't do in the letter is break down what was PPI and was interest on the whole amount.

To say I'm very happy is an understatement, one letter meant I could pay off two of my other credit cards and reduce the monthly payments to my loan. The PPI I now have is £15 a month.

If you're thinking about doing it, just go for it. All you have to lose is the cost of a stamp.

Hi and well done it depends on bank mine with Halifax they sent figures within 4 weeks and money was in bank a couple of days after this Sunny

I wouldnt hold your breath with Bank Of Scotland for a speedy payout although it depends on how far back they need to go to retreive data (they only hold computerised statements back to 2005 before that its on microfiche) I received a letter before Christmas upholding a complaint on a Preference Account going back to 1999 and after numerous phone calls to chase still have no idea when Im going to get my money back. The chap on the phone basically said it will be a number of weeks at least. I have complained to FOS about this and they have sent a letter to BOS which they need to respond to.

My loan was taken out only 2 years ago so hopefully they can payout quite quickly.

Just a quick couple of questions, i signed the acceptance offer 4 weeks ago after i received the letter from the ombudsman (I am pleased to let you know that following our involvement, Clydesdale Bank Plc has now agreed to make an offer to settle your client’s complaint in line with the approach that we take when we decide that a consumer has been mis-sold a PPI policy) but still haven't had anything back from my bank, how long do i need to give them before this should be paid back to me?, they have yet to actually make an offer to me only saying that they would offer to settle this, will this be the full amount i paid plus interest?

The FOS ruled in my favour against Black Horse Finance, the settlement form was sent back 6 weeks ago, im getting really fed up with waiting. When I spoke to them they advised they were working on complaints from November. I cannot see how they are going to send me a letter and provide me with a refund in the next 6 weeks. What I want to know is can you go for compensation if the 12 weeks lapses and you havent heard anything????? i just want my money back!!!!

Hi all. First post. Just a quick note to thank Martin, this site and the people here for posting experiences and advice.

I recently claimed back 2000 GBP for missold ppi. This took over a year with many letters (mostly templates) and a final FOS judgment in my favour.

The reason for the claim was: Single premium PPI, Loan over phone and only mentioned a protected loan, sneaky and confusing, unsuitable for purpose,

I don't want to say who it was with at the moment but they denied everything at first, then after FOS became involved, totally agreed with me!

    Thanks again all

  • I have just had an email from the FOS to advise that they will not chase any companies regards to refunds before the 12 week period is up, apparently this is an agreement they have with the firms and by the FOS chasing it causes further delays. Looks like i will have to hang on in there until the end of March!
