I have just had an email from the FOS to advise that they will not chase any companies regards to refunds before the 12 week period is up, apparently this is an agreement they have with the firms and by the FOS chasing it causes further delays. Looks like i will have to hang on in there until the end of March!

    Hi there
thanks for your update, think they must vary then (depending on what bank as they all seem to have backlogs, and maybe some have more than others to deal with), with my hubby's they said 8 weeks, however he is still waiting for his payment and its approx 13 weeks on.
    Good luck though.:)

  • This is to thank Mr Lewis and all who work on this site for the help and encouragment it gives to those pursuing reclaims. I have just helped my son recover PPI premiums and interest totalling over £4,000 from the Halifax arising on a sequence of loans given by Halifax to my son. He should never have been sold the policies but without your site I doubt we would have challenged the Bank sucessfully or at all.

  • Hi everyone,

    I received this email from myclaimsexpert.co.uk 3 day's ago-

    Good Afternoon,

Today I have sent you out a pack regarding Payment Protection Insurance. I have sent this to you as your statements have shown you have been paying for payment protection insurance which may have been mis-sold to you as a number of people are not aware they are paying for this and some are unable to claim under the insurance due to their age or circumstances.

    Thank You
    Candice Joy

So the pack arrived today and to my total shock they have stated that i'm due £7,456.90!!!! I nearly feel off my seat!! Hahaha!! But the crazy thing is the reason i got in contact with them in the first place was to claim back my credit card charges and that was 18 months ago.

I've recently had to success with claiming back miss sold PPI from Egg and MBNA so i know roughly how it all works when making a claim. The pack they have sent me is asking me to sign again and send it back, is this because its a different claim from my credit card charges?? I also recevied a letter from the halifax stating they have had contact from myclaimsexpert. I phoned the Halfax today to see what they had to say as i didn't even know i had PPI with my credit card and they stated yes i had PPI when the since i had the card in 2002 but they said they cancelled it September last here as i missed 2 payment which was a load of rubbish. So after speaking to a few people at the halifax and getting nowhere i decided to just contact the FOS and explained the whole situation to them and now they have taken control of the claim.

Do you think this was the correct thing to do??

    Thanks Barry

  • Further to my thread of 1st Feb I have great delight in updating you all on my second successful PPI claim from GE Money. Here's the low down.

What were you reclaiming: PPI on Debenhams store card
    • Who was the provider: Santander Cards (formerly GE Money)
    • How much did you get back: £779.96
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Ltr
Wrote to Santander Cards on 13/11/09 requesting list of premiums paid.
Rec'd copy statements, copy original credit agreement and Account Cover Insurance Policy in ltr dated 10/12/09 which stated premiums of £331.70 had been paid since account opened on 19/7/03. Replied on 15/12/09 stating grounds of misselling. Rec'd ltr dated 7/1/10 confirming my mum was unable to claim given her age at the time the policy was taken out. Offered to repay premiums of £213.65 (despite terms of earlier ltr) together with interest thereon of £94.20 and a loss of cash payment at 8% per annum of £50.07 - only half of the 8% statutory interest due on the £213.65 per the MSE Court Interest Calculator. A cheque for £357.92 rec'd on 29/1/10. I wrote on 12/1/10 pointing out the premiums were previously confirmed as amounting to £331.70 and that a recalculated refund based on this amount would be acceptable. Heard nothing until 8/2/10 when Santander wrote offering the remaining £118.05 in paid premiums together with a further £208.68 interest, further £70.31 statutory interest as well as an additional £25 by way of compensation for their error! Hurrah!! A second cheque arrived today for £422.04! Thanks again to Martin Lewis and the website team. You're all wonderful. :j
Now for the biggy! I'm now pursuing GE Money for missold PPI on a credit card which my mum has with them involving premiums paid of £1,563.14. Will report back in due course.
  • Hi all

Well after a moan on here a couple of weeks ago that it felt as if the whole FOS process was dragging on, my husband had a phone call from Halifax saying that they had 'overlooked' something on our PPI claim and are now paying out! I believe they actually said to him they had mis sold it to us!

I'm not sure on the amount but we should be receiving paperwork in the post shortly.
We got the loan over the phone back in July 06 and consolidated it in Aug 2007. The amount was for £7500 both times (the 2nd replaced the first if you get what I'm saying??) - not sure what APR was, I think it was 8-9%.

I'm not sure if they are upholding my claim from Aug 07 or before - should I make sure they take it back from the original point of sale in Jul 06? This was the convo I remember where I now know I was mis sold.

Do you think the FOS nudged them a bit to pay out?

Thanks to Martin and all the people on here who's advice has been great. Just one complaint left with FOS (Lloyds!!!).
