Just to let everyone know.... Last week we filled in a template letter and sent it to EGG re a loan we have been paying over 7 years. While withdrawing cash from an ATM last night our balance had mysteriously increased by £2500. After much scratching of heads we awoke this morning to a letter from EGG saying they had paid the money direct to our bank! No quibbles, haggling or denials! 8 days it took and the payment included £779 interest. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Well done Martin not long now till your knighthood hopefully

    Cheers
    KC

I have just received £2500 back from HSBC. This was for insurance on a grad loan I took out ages ago.
I filled out the template letter well before Christmas and they took quite a while to look into it. However they gave me back the full sum plus interest and I didn't have to write another letter!
I wasn't going to bother doing this as I really didn't think I had a case but my old uni friend was also successful with her claim against HSBC so i then decided to copy her.

    Hi and welcome.

Brilliant, that was very good, Well done and Congratulations, bet you glad you did lol, good one. :j:beer::T

  • What were you reclaiming: PPI
Who was the provider: The dreaded Welcome Finance, for all my sins!
How much did you get back: Not sure, still waiting
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: The Financial Ombudsman

    Hi All,

Just a quick update on where I am with my claim. In October 2008, I sent a query letter to Welcome Finance as I had cancelled my PPI in February 2008 and the loan was recalculated but the settlement figure wasn't reflecting this. I asked them to investigate and recalculate but they refused and issued me a final response letter, which I referred to the Financial Ombudsman. In November 2009, a year later, the Financial Ombudsman ruled in my favour and Welcome Finance were given a 12 week timescale to pay me back the usual PPI amount plus 8% interest simple.

It's now 12 weeks and I've not heard so much as a word from them. I called them last week to ask what was going on and they are still dealing with October's complaints. I was told I should expect a reply by the end of February. I referred this back to my adjudicator who told me he couldn't do anything to speed it up but for every day that goes by, 8% interest is being added to the balance payable. I guess it's just a sit tight and wait for the money to arrive ... provided they don't go into administration first!

    Kirstie.

    Hi Kirsty
Well done and Congratulations on your success.:T:beer:

I understand that many have backlogs, my hubby is still waiting for his lloyds tsb payout in regards of a reclaim dealt with by the FOS from Oct 2009 as well, and am aware its the same for these too.

However, even though once you accepted and the FOS close their files, they do tend to chase them up for you if you do this first and get no satisfaction.
I hope you hear soon of your money, fingers crossed.;)

Just a quick couple of questions, i signed the acceptance offer 4 weeks ago after i received the letter from the ombudsman (I am pleased to let you know that following our involvement, Clydesdale Bank Plc has now agreed to make an offer to settle your client’s complaint in line with the approach that we take when we decide that a consumer has been mis-sold a PPI policy) but still haven't had anything back from my bank, how long do i need to give them before this should be paid back to me?, they have yet to actually make an offer to me only saying that they would offer to settle this, will this be the full amount i paid plus interest?

    Hi there

    Well done and Congratulations.

Many have backlogs to get through, but you could ring them to ask them when to expect to hear of the offer amount and payment etc.

My hubby have already waited approx 12 weeks for his payout, not the same bank though, but are told they have backlogs, so in your case if you hear nothing say for example by early next week, give them a quick ring for an update. Ask them on what the the amount is going to be and for the breakdown of the calculations, they should send you these by post.
Hope you hear soon, fingers crossed.;)

  • What were you reclaiming: PPI
Who was the provider: Capital Finance
How much did you get back: £9,000
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Two letters, one phone call

I sent a letter in October 2009 and received an acknowledgement within a week or so saying they would respond in 8 weeks. They wrote again at the beginning of January to say they were awaiting some information and would reply as soon as they could. They wrote the following week to offer just over £4,000 which seemed very low compared to what I had paid. Having taken some advice from the very wise people on the forums I wrote to say I did not accept and asked them to review again. I phoned yesterday to find out what was happening and received an email today with the new offer :j

My advice to others is don't be afraid to reclaim - front loaded PPI is a scandal and you shouldn't be put off. There are very wise people here who offer great advice :)
