Hello can anyone please tell me, my PPI mis-selling claim against Central Capital has been with the FOS since late October 2009. The case was allocated to an adjudicator early December 2009 due to me pleading financial hardship.

Does anyone know what the process is once the case has been allocated to an adjudicator? My adjudicator says he will update me when there is any news. He has been investigating the case for around 6 weeks now, will he now be waiting for information from Central Capital? How long does it take for the adjudicator to make a decision? Should I take it to be a good sign or bad sign or is there really no way of knowing? Do you think the adjudicator will have made a recommendation to Central Capital already? Questions, lots of questions I know, but I am beginning to get nervous now!

    Thanks in advance

    Hi there

This can vary, even though they are dealing with it as a fast track case now this will also depend on how long Central take to come back to them, saying that the adjudicator generally gives a timescale, sometimes the other party ask for more time, the adjudicator normally allows it but only for a certain amount of time.

However, if all straight forward hopefully say by about 6 weeks it will be resolved.

That is also procedure of the FOS as well, to keep you updated of any updates.
I take it you have forwarded your email details?
This is a quickest way for them to contact you, if not let the adjudictor know of your email details so they can contact you this way as well.

Good luck and do not worry.;)

    Hi All

Not been on for a while what with christmas and being busy. Good to see plenty of sucess stories - mine is not so good.

Still waiting on Barclays overdraft and ppi claim so need to chase them now as their 8 weeks is up.

MBNA have made a paltry offer so I sent off a nasty letter (prev posted here somewhere) and all I got back was there first response, ie thanks for giving us the chance to investigate! They have also offered me a token gesture in response to my charges claim saying they do not agree with the OFT.

Tesco credit card have refused my ppi claim saying I ticked the box.

There you go. All in all a right kick in the teeth at the moment so I could really do with some words of encouragement or details of sucessful methods against theese companies if anyone has them! Any blanked out letters pm'd to me would be a help.

    Please and thanks in advance.

Hi, as you paid the loan off early (I am assuming this is the case as it was only 2 years!) then you would have had a rebate of the premium for early settlement and ALSO (although very difficult to work out) you would not have been charged ALL the interest due on the premium so although you say it was £16412.40 that showed on your agreement, after only two years you would not have actually "paid" the whole of it and most would have been rebated at settlement.

    Hope this helps.

Hi putty, I am sorry you have had knock backs to date BUT this is the norm with most firms and they try, in the hope, to get you to give up. You just need to stand your ground with them and if necessary let the FOS try to resolve them. I know it means waiting a lengthy time but mostly worth it in the end.;)
  • What were you reclaiming: PPI on loan
Who was the provider: Northern Rock
How much did you get back: £950 to be paid in the next 10 days
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 letter posted January 2008

Posted template letter in January 2008 reclaiming the PPI on my better half's loan which was paid off in April 2007, and got a reply after a few weeks rejecting the claim.

We decided to forget about it as she couldn't remember much about when she took the loan out and hadn't got any of the paperwork!

Then out of the blue last week she got a letter from customer support saying that they had conducted a review of the complaint to ensure that it was handled appropriately, and stating "I have not been able to establish that when you took out the PPI policy you were provided with sufficient details to allow you to make an informed choice".

The upshot is that they have offered a full refund plus interest of the PPI element of the loan totalling £950, which obviously we have accepted.

I suppose we should have taken things further 2 years ago, but it just goes to show that good things can happen to those who wait!:j

  • What were you reclaiming: PPI on loan
    Who was the provider: EGG
How much did you get back: £3350 to be paid in the next 10 days
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: strangely, I mentioned it to them in a phone call and they settled withing 14 days.

I have been looking into my situation with EGG as I have one loan and also had one credit card with them. The card was defaulted and I can't get a mortgage because of it, so I had been checking it was all done correctly.

When I was on the phone to them, I mentioned in passing that I felt I had been missold the PPI. They took note of the complaint, acknowledged it in writing within days and the next week I got a letter offering me a full refund plus interest.

The great news is that this is just £100 short of the settlement figure, so I will pay off the whole thing in two weeks.

If only MBNA were so easy to deal with...........
