Got £1255 refund for PPI protection I took out on a loan in 2006. Sent off one of the template letters stating that:
    • Your salesperson implied that taking out the policy would assist my credit application.
    • Your salesperson did not give me full information on what the policy would and would not cover.
I am concerned the sales assistant that sold me the policy has no financial background and the policy was not sold in my best interests.

4 weeks later I got refund of all premiums paid and 8% interest.
Thank you it was so simple to do.

This is brilliant, well done and Congratulations.

    Hi and welcome.;)

You can of course try asking for these details, hopefully they are lenient to give them to you.

However, another way is to request a SAR known as a Subject Access Request, where they have 40 days to comply, there is a £10 charge for this by postal order or cheque payment, there is a SAR template letter with details on the link below, I would suggest to post by recorded delivery for your proof of posting, good luck and please ask for help anytime.

    Hello there, your welcome.;)

I don't think they have but there may be more info on this link here:

Worth checking it out just in case, still it makes no difference, as you have your case with your reasons then you can still reclaim, go for it, all the best with this. X

  • I wrote to BoS requesting the money back + interest and a couple of weeks ago I received a letter asking me to contact them, which I ignored. Today, Christmas Eve, I received another letter offering to put me "in the position you would have been in had you not taken the insurance". I should have the money within a month. It was that easy!
    .

Another success to report - Sent a couple of claims to Egg on the 4th Jan 2010. They must be on a roll (egg roll?) as I received a letter on Friday stating they have received my complaint and another today offering me to repay over £700 of mis-sold PPI on a loan from 2002.:j:j

Quick question, I also claimed for a loan from 2001 and they say they are not in a position to investigate it as it was paid up over six years ago. I have a copy of the paperwork. Does anyone think it is worth pursuing?

Finally, another BIG THANKS to all who contribute to this site and this forum in particular - the good news does not stop coming since I got involved with MSE.

    Well done and Congratulations.:beer::T:beer::j:j

Yes do go for it, you can always send enclosed "copies" of what you have in your letter.

Many on here have still been successful as from the 90's, and one of mine was 2001.
    Good luck, keep at them.;)

Hi Happy shrimper - I managed to claim from the 90's because I still had the paper work so you should be fine - just make sure you state the following
" I have only recently become aware of the fact that I had PPi on this loan/you could reclaim mis-sold PPi/blabla" (Whatever is applicable)
The rule is 6 years from when you became aware - not from when the loan started/ended etc;)

I received over £1800 from HSBC. They offered without putting up a fight. Now every woman loves me and every guy wants to be my friend. Well, OK, that's an exaggeration, but the money's nice... :j
