What were you reclaiming: Credit Card ppi
Who was the provider: Barclaycard
How much did you get back: Visa £14,900. Mastercard £5,800.
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 template letter & Barclaycard questionnaire
And then write your brief reclaim tale Had these cards since 1993, ppi insurance added after a cold call from them informing that ppi was now needed to continue with the credit facility, being naive agreed to this being added and thought no more about it till comming across this site last year.
Sent template letter in October and within 2 weeks received a reply asking for their questionnaire to be filled in and returned. Then received a letter in December saying they needed more time to look into the complaint and would write again before 31st December with there findings.
Yesterday received there response offering a full refund of all ppi premiums payed and associated interest totalling over £20,000. in total :beer::beer:
As this leaves the accounts with a credit balance, that amount will be transferred to our Bank Account upon receipt of the acceptance offer form.
I cannot believe how much has been payed over the years and cannot thank all posters on this site for their help and advice given to anyone who asks.
Finnaly I would like to encourage anyone thinking of making a claim to go for it - I did and cannot believe the result - this will certainly be a HAPPY 2010 for us :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j
thanks again to :money:and everyone on this site for your help and advice.
Well done Kat! You went as far back as 1993?
I had a mortgage with Abbey National ( who bought out National and Provincial B.S. in 1995 ). I had Mortgage Payment Protection - a prelude to PPI back then, on the mortgage. Took out the mortgage in 1992. Sold property in 1999. Do you think I can claim. If I can, I will have to write to Abbey first to get my old mortgage a/c number.0 -

Hi There
As far as I am aware Mortgage Protection is a different kettle of fish to PPI on credit cards etc. Am sure somebody will advise you in more detail on this.:mad:0 -
I'm just playing the waiting game at the moment. Sent and returned a signed acceptance of Black Horse's offer which they received 14th Dec. Just rang them to ask when I could expect payment and they said it should be within the next week which is fair enough seeing as we've had the Xmas break.
Also waiting on Halifax to get back to me. I wrote to them 2 weeks before I wrote to Black Horse and the last I heard was a letter dated 14th Dec saying they were sorry they hadn't yet got back to me but they would be in touch by 18th Jan at the latest.
What's everyone elses experience with Halifax credit card PPI claims? I didn't expect them to take this long as I originally wrote to them at the beginning of November.0 -

Hello there
Wishing you luck with your reclaims.;)
There are many here who have had success with all these, and in regards of Halifax I'm sure someone will post up with their experience.
So you sent your first letter to reclaim in November?
I take it 8 weeks have passed?
Did you post this by recorded delivery and check the delivery status on this on the Royal mail website "Tracking"?
Chase them up by giving them a ring for an update if you can, good luck please keep us posted. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Thanks for the PM marshallka. I would not have seen it otherwise.
jos004, why do you think you can claim mortgage protection back?
Ignoring the fact for the moment its way before general insurance regulation, what grounds would you have for asking for a refund?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Just thought i'd post my news. Dont do phone, so used template letter to Co-Op for miss-sold PPI on Credit Card and also template letter to Barclaycard for same reason. Asked for photocopy of my statements and my signed agreement to use PPI, as usual fobbed off with letter from both. Then wrote to Ombudsman and got fairly immediate reponse, a short call from them asking a few questions about Co-Op Card. Co-Op responded quite quickly with a letter offering refund + 8%. Barclaycard finally sent an offer in a similar vain, after i kept pestering ombudsman via email finally got payment this week, many weeks overdue. Anyhow bottom line Co-Op paid £3300 and Barclaycard Paid £5400.
First time i've ever followed a guide on MSE, thanks Martin and all forum members0
