We had the same trouble with our bank complaint and in the end I rang the bank and asked for it. It was then they transferred direct to our bank account. I asked FOS how long it would be and they said like they have with you that there is no timescale as such but its usually about 4 weeks. Ours took about that I think. I have noticed someone on here last week say that some firms are now taking 90 days or so but I would just give the firm a shove in the right direction if you can. Well done on your win though.:T

Yes I have debated ringing Nationwide myself, I dont know if its against the FOS rules though, maybe I will drop them an email and ask or should I go through them direct ?

Thanks for your help again !

You never know, you might just get that hamper and bubbly:D:D

He sent me an email to say he has actioned the redress and would let me know when it is done and dusted. I sent one back again (I had already mentioned it on the phone!!!:o) and said look forward to the redress straight to the bank and that I assumed the hamper and bubbly would be by royal mail:eek:. Not had one back.....

I would not think that there are any rules on whether you contact them after FOS involvement. You are only looking after your interests really and sometimes we have to.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.;)
  • Indeed, I have sent them an email to ask in the hope they will tire of me and send me the letter lol. I shall call Nationwide tomorrow anyway :) thanks marshallka

CHeers Di. I will not settle till money is in the bank though. They have asked for our account number to do it direct and i was right about how rebate complaints are worked out. I don't know how others get the interest included in theirs but I had this offer two weeks ago and then have asked the FOS to agree or disagree that whereby a rebate complaint is sorted out that the associated interest charged at settlement cause of the PPI (not interest on the loan but just the PPI bit) be inclued in the rebate redress or not. FOS took a whole week and half to get back as they did not know and I was told it would then be a precedent if it was to be included. Last week TWO Ombudsman have actually agreed that associated interest is not included. I thought not but just wanted clarification of this before accepting. Its the LENDER who makes on the interest..... so confusing when you have a lender, broker and insurer.... about who is responsible for what.
well done to you, have been reading on here about your claim and had fingers crossed for you, glad you finally got there and good for you for sticking it out
  • Hi, New to this. Have been reading these posts for a few months now after sending my 1st letters to Northern Rock & HSBC, sent first letter to NR on 23rd Sept, recieved a letter & questionaire which i filled in posted next day, this morning i receive a letter back from NR asking for more time, as it was over the 8 weeks i had alredy posted 2nd letter, strange thing was there letter is dated 23rd Nov and sent first class ( 8 Days !!! ), in this letter they say "if im not happy contact the ombudsman enclosed is a leaflet with details of the scheme and how to contact them" guess what no leaflet, i know i can get the details off this site but i feel they are just being as slow as humanly possible, hopefully they will receive my 2nd letter and sort it out.
  • The Ombudsman wrote to me at the end of last week to inform me that my bank had agreed to repay all payments and 8% interest on each.

I originally complained to my bank in August, they responded with a no eight weeks later. May letter to the Ombudsman was sent in the middle of October, so it was only with them for about six weeks.

Very happy! So thanks to everyone on here for the advice, both directly and indirectly.

    Hello there

I think they all have a backlog of complaints to deal with, but its entirely up to you if you want to wait a little longer, maybe give them your own timescale for example 14 days and if no decision have been made by then, take your complaint to the FOS.
Good luck with this and hope you hear from them soon with a positive outcome.;)
