:jEvening all, after emailing the director of PPI at Black Horse and chasing it up a couple of times throughout the week I have finally had the below response

Thank you for your e-mail and I am sorry that you are dissatisfied with the position.

The situation is that we have no record of receiving your subsequent letters and therefore regarded the matter as closed. I have looked at the case and whilst I note the comments you have made, the agreement and demands and needs were completed and you did not purchase full payment protection insurance but merely life cover, so this does not suggest that there was an insistence that you had to purchase full payment protection insurance in order to have the agreement accepted.

Although there is no evidence to support that the policy was sold incorrectly, as a gesture of goodwill I am arranging for a refund of the insurance paid by you to be refunded. As the agreement has been settled early, the settlement figure paid included a rebate of a proportion of the insurance cost as you receive a rebate in the event of early settlement. We are calculating the amount of refund due and will be writing to you setting out the offer for your consideration.

    Regards
    Paul

Although I am so so happy that they are going to pay out I need to know how to work this out.
I understand upto the refund of the insurance paid by you (i.e a refund of everything i paid in insurance) but i dont really understand the rest.
I need help as will be unsure whether the offer is correct or not.

Any help or advise would be very much appreciated. i have the agreement here and can give people the figures in order to help me out if needs be

Claire this is fab news, well done and Congratulations.

They obviously know they were in the wrong and the best thing here would be for them to pay this up, good one Claire.....

Ask them to also send you a written statement of calculations, as your entitled to see the breakdown of this and please feel free to post up any figures you may have and I'm sure someone will take a look at them for you.
I am not good at workings out, but someone will take a look for you.;)

When you paid off the loan they are saying you got a ppi rebate in the settlement and they will take this amount off the total you have paid for the PPI. you also need to see if they have added 8% interest to the amount they are saying they will return to you and the interest you paid on the PPI during the time you had it.

Well done on a positive result.

What was the original PPI amount? You would need them to give you a breakdown of what the settlement was made up of eg loan amount plus ppi amount plus interest minus ppi rebate minus interest rebate.

THe original Loan amount was for £14300.00 the ppi was £5981.99 both of these figures was without interest.
I paid the loan back in full 12 months later and the settlement figure was £17088.00.
Where do I go from here???

Well done, that’s excellent news. :j:j:j:beer:

I love your determination your like a dog with a bone, you’re a wee superstar….

I know that you definitely wont want my help working your figures out. I must confess to being way out on my maths, its just as well that I didn’t put any figures in correspondence. I thought I was due about £1,000 back on my policy however they offered me £2700 as a settlement figure.
