PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

What were you reclaiming: loan PPI
Who was the provider: Barclays
How much did you get back: £1,000
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: First template letter.
I took out a loan in January 2007 and then about 5 months ago I got a letter from Barclays stating that they were now obliged to send out statements. On this statement it had just over £1,000 for PPI - much to my surprise as I never take out this. I hunted high and low for my paperwork but couldn't find it - may be as I applied online. Having read about reclaiming on here I thought I'd give it a go and yesterday I got a letter (after about 3 months of delays) saying that although they thought everything was OK they couldn't find any paperwork to back it up so they were going to refund the PPI.
Basically I've got a reduced balance on the remainder of the loan plus a cheque for around £885 for the PPI and another £105 for the interest at 8% - result
Many thanks to Martin and everyone else for their guidance!0 -

Hi All
I had such great success getting advice earlier today from this site that I thought I would chance my arm again!!!! A very dear friend of mine took out a loan with GE Capital over 12 years ago - they charged her upfront for insurance. She then got lucky and was given an job upgrade with back pay so she paid off her loan in full - including about 7k in insurance. Happily she has the paperwork - is it worth a claim at this late stage - she was told at the time that the loan would be unlikely to proceed without the security of the payment protection.0 -

Hi there and well done on your success.
I understand this is an older loan, but its still worth a shot.
Was this actually sold by GE Capital?
Glad your friend still has the paperwork which is a great help to support her complaint.
I think she has good reason to complain myself.
I expect you have already came across the guidelines of reclaiming on here, but here is it anyway to help you through this.

Yet another success today - go us!!! Thank you very much for this - she is a wonderful person and any successful claim would revolutionise her life- especially if I can wangle the interest for her.....she's a bit of a MSE atheist - despite the evidence from my personal experience.....the Salvation Army toy appeal is going to do well out of me this year - thanks to people like yourself on this site. Warm thoughts are also being sent your way!!! Take care, stephderm0

Hi
Would love to hear from anyone who has had dealings with Nat West when claiming back PPI on a loan. Had letter back from Nat West offering me £750 as a goodwill gesture and details of the FOS if I wish to contest their decision saying that they dont believe I have been missold tghe policy. Dont know which way to turn now as I feel they probablly owe me a lot more money and are hoping to get away with a goodwill gesture.
PLEASE PLEASE get in touch if you have been in this situation with Nat West.
Thanks0 -
Quick question for anyone who can help - when completing a CCA request letter and it says sign digiatally, I assume this means print in the letter format? Sorry for being a thickie, but advise plse?0
