  • Hi all,

Letter sent to Egg today. Reasoning was easy due to them being fined already. My question relates to claiming from Barclaycard. I'm a bit confused as to the reasoning I should state. This is my Barclaycard history:

Applied via the post in 2001 (could this relate to the unfair use of check boxes?).
Tried to cancel PPI in 2003 when I realised what it was (a waste of time and money). Was told I couldn't cancel.
Tried again to cancel a couple of months later. Told the same thing.
Decided to try and cancel a third time beginning of 2009. This time there was no arguement.

Can anyone tell me which of the template statements on Martin's wonderful letter I should use. Also, have Barclaycard been fined by the FSA yet?

    Amazing results by the way!!!

    Hi and welcome.;)

And well done to you

I note you had a loan from Endeavour, was it Endeavour that sold you the loan or a broker?, what year did you take this out?

Sorry for the questions, just making sure on this one as I was dealing with them and passed from pillar to post, but think we are getting there now, hope they resolve this for you, good luck and with the other reclaims as well.;)

In regards of the mortgage question, you may be able to claim back on this but I think this would be one for dunstonh to answer to, if you want to post about this actual question on a separate thread, I'm sure Dunstonh will come across it and give some useful advice on this for you.

    Hi there

Many thanks for your quick reply.

The loan was sourced through Purple Loans but if I remember correctly EPF contacted me directly to organise the loan and the PPI Policy.

I have taken your advice on board regarding BoS and started a new thread elsewhere.

Have you any further advice/tips on dealing with EPF & potential pitfalls??

    Kind Regards,

    Dunkydo

    Your very welcome.

Arh right so if Endeavour arranged this loan then, your right to pursue through these, with mine it was dealt with by a broker called Click Finance and the lender Endeavour, this was back in July 2004, but I could not pursue through the broker, with them no longer being active, but the FOS are looking into this with the underwriter/insurer direction instead.
Hopefully you will get no comebacks then if yours was direct with Endeavour.

Also just to add though, the chances are that it will be HFC that will write back to you on behalf of Endeavour as they linked together and to what I know of now is that HFC deals with the complaints.
Did you post your letter by recorded delivery to Endeavour?

If so you can check the tracking of your letter on the Royal mail website, and the chances are your letter would have been diverted to HFC in Birmingham.
Good luck with this and keep at them is best.;)

    Hi again,

I have just checked the Recorded Delivery slip and the address I had for EPF was in Birmingham (Camden House West) - I found it on the bottom of an annual statement.

A quick update to MBNA - received a letter this morning stating they are conducting an investigation and will reply within 28 days - I believe this could be worth up to £1250 if interest is added so fingers crossed!

The Egg result has really kept my enthusiasm levels up - I would never have thought about doing this until coming across this site! I am actually hoping these PPI cold-callers will phone so I can say 'thanks, but no thanks as I have done it all myself thanks to Martin Lewis and his web site"!!!!

    Kind Regards,

    Dunkydo

    Hi everyone,

Now that I have had success with Egg PPI (£800 in 10 days from 1 letter), the bug has bitten me!

From May 2001 to July 2004 I had a Morgan Stanley Gold CC, which changed to Goldfish just before I paid it off and cancelled.

I definitely had PPI cover on this but as Morgan Stanley have been swallowed by Barclaycard I am unsure who to try and claim from.

I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction with any tips for any potential pitfalls.

    Many thanks,

    Dunkydo

Sent template 1 letter to HBOS regarding the PPI on mycurrent loan and received a letter saying as I am a valued customer (of 34 years but I'm closing my accounts soon as they are closing the counters in my local Halifax Estate agents and I'll be damned if I tramp into Preston City Centre when there's a Lloyds and RBS on my doorstep) they will "pay me an amount which will put you back in the position you would have been had you not taken the insurance"

3 weeks later I finally get the settlement offer letter. They are paying the full premiums I have paid so far plus 8.8% interest plus 8% interest

    Refund of premiums £2,618.15
Refund of interest at 8.8% £746.32
    Interest at 8% £628.04
    Total £3,992.51

They then go on to say that because I have a short term remaining on my loan it will be paid off and the difference paid to my bank account within 28 days

    Total redress due £3,992.51
Less outstanding balance once PPI has been removed £1,999.80
    Redress to ME £1,992.71

So I'm getting £1,992.71 plus en extra £350 a month now that the loan is paid :T

Well chuffed. Many thanks to Martin and all the previous people before me who have done all the donkey work. :T

A cheque from Halifax landed on my doorstep about 1hr after writing this. Cheque has been deposited already :j

You would claim off whoever took over from Morgan stanley as it was them that sold you the PPI. From your post I assume that would be Barclaycard?? I would wait for someone else to confirm though.

    Good luck
