My personal opinion "yes" go for it.
Many have still been successful from reclaiming from the 1990's, if you don't try you will never know, it may be worth your while.;)

Great - thanks for your help. I've emailed them and will let you all know how I get on

    cheers!:p
  • What were you reclaiming: Card PPI
    Who was the provider: Egg
How much did you get back: 400
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: First template letter.
And then write your brief reclaim tale

I have complained against Egg in regard of policies mis-sold to me for both loan and credit card PPI. I sent off the loan letter first and that is being looked at. I sent of separately template letter in regard of PPI on credit card. Egg have upheld my complaint regarding the card and wrote back to me within a week or so telling me this and I now await their cheque. The loan PPI is for a sum in excess of £7000 and so is understandably taking a little longer.

I have just completed a PPI Reclaim For a closed Personal Loan with HSBC.
This loan account had been closed for approx 3 years. The initial PPI I paid totalled £500. I received a final responce from HSBC offering full payment of £1,271.14, more than double of what I had originally paid, because of the interest on the amount and interest for the 3 years that they had had the money. I honestly thought I was sending the letter as a whim, and never thought for a second I would get any money back.
I only sent 1 letter (martins template) initially, I received a letter from HSBC to say that they will be looking into my complaint, another letter after 4 weeks to say that they are still looking into my complaint and then the final responce at 8 weeks which was full settlement of my account! No Questioning nothing?!

I just want to say I think what Martin Lewis has done is giving the power back to the public now and justice for all the years we have been ripped off is now coming to an end.

If anyone is thinking about reclaiming PPI's do it!!!!!!!! You have got nothing to lose, except the price of a stamp or two. My result has been the incentive for my mum, boyfriend and boyfriends mum to reclaim PPI charges.
    Well done Gemma.:T

Well done on the card and good luck on the loan one.

Just a word of warning. Check your card account for the redress amount if you do not hear soon as Egg are known for making redress's against your card. If you have not been in arrears ever then you can ask that it be reversed and paid in a cheque. They may send a cheque but some have thought that they have not been paid out and then checked their card statements and the money has been paid against them.

    Hi All

I have today received a letter from Mint offering me £76 as a refund compared to the £480 ish that I requested. They have stated that I was charged £20 on 9 occassions (which is true from the statement they sent) and therefore they are offering this plus interest all credited to my account.

What I need to know please is, do I reject their offer and hold out for the £480 ish threatening them with court action or am I best to accept their offer.

Any advice would be welcome, especially how to go about this.

    Thanks
