Hi- anyone had any successs with RFS? I bought a car off them years ago and I'm pretty sure there was PPI on the payments. I'm not sure who to contact as I don't have the paperwork any more - any ideas please?

i've just had a claim upheld by Lloydstsb, but going by the feedback on here it may take a while to come through. Anyway, no issues with Lloyds handling of my case, they have been very eficient to date, :oso good luck!0 -

I am still in shock with the result of three letters but here are my wins:j
My husband has a loan with Abbey (still paying it) with PPI, i wrote to Abbey and asked them to remove it, told them we were told we felt we had to have it to gain the loan and they have just returned 2.5K straight back into his current account and reduced the premiums on his loan by around £60 per month!!! :T:rotfl::j
I had a loan with the AA which i took out in 2001 to buy a new car, i then needed to consolodate a few debts so took out a larger loan with the AA and included PPi on both loans. to cut a long story short, wrote to the AA with two letters quoting the two references and have just been awarded £1661.19 on one loan and then £1568.75 on the other! :j
I have saved the best till last, I have since received two more cheques from the Bank of Scotland (AA) for the 8% interest £747.93 and 657.34.
All of this from three letters. all i need now is to know how to spend the money. :T:T
I thought i would post this to give you all hope that it really does work, and i am now going to dig all my old paperwork out of the cupboard and attempt to claim for my old loans, worth a try!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Some firms however will just add simple interest onto whatever payment you are due back but this works out less.
Hope this helps
This is from the Ombudsman site and states the same
Loan and PPI policy still in place at time of FOS decision.
Lender agreed for the cancellation of the PPI policy and restructuring of loan. E.g.
Overall loan repayments £250 per month but would have been £200 without PPI, term of policy was 60 months and complaint settled after 20 monthly payments.
· Return excess monthly payments of £50 x 20 payments up to date of settlement (£1000)
· Add interest to each payment of £50 at 8%simple, from date of each payment until lender repaid.
· Arrange loan to be restructured, so remaining 40 monthly payments reduced to £200
· Pay borrower £300 for extra inconvenience caused.
Thanks for that. Thats much clearer. I just look forward to seeing what I get back.
