  • Hi All

I need some advice with claiming a PPI. Have started the ball rolling and sent off the first template letter to Nat West. They replied back and as I expected they said that they do not believe it was missold but as a goodwill gesture they will give me £750.

Has anyone been in the same situation as this as I am not sure what I should do next. Nat West also sent me information for me to get in touch with the financial Ombudsmen if I was not happy with their decision.

Any advice would be gratefully received. The offer of £750 from Nat West makes me think that they have probablly missold me the PPI in the beginning and they are trying their luck at getting out of paying a whole lot more.

Look forward to hearing from anyone who has had been in the same situation as this or any advice that you may have to offer on what I should do next.

    Thanks

    Laura

    Hi Laura

    Was this the final offer?
I take it that it must be if they have also enclosed the FOS details.

I was going to suggest that you write to them if your not happy with the decision of an offer and request they reconsider on the basis that you still believe that you were mis sold, and request they refund you the full amount of PPI you have paid and the interest etc.

If you do this ask if they can get back to you with a response to this by 14 days of your letter, so of course you can then move on to the FOS if they do not or if you do not want to accept their standard offer of goodwill.

It is entirely up to you, either way, good luck.;)

  • Slightly in shock. Have two loans with Lloyds TSB and sent letters about 6 weeks ago to claim PPI back from both. I got back from holiday today to two letters. Both saying they are upholding my claim and that once I sign the paperwork they will pay amount back to my bank account plus 8% interest. I expected it to be much harder than this.

Anyway I have one question with regards to working it out and hope someone can tell me if this is right. I looked at my credit agreement and it says that on loan one as part of the £312 a month a payment of £56.97 was PPI. If I times this by the number of payments made so far (42 months) will this be what I am owed. Then I need to add 8%. Hope I've worked this out right because if I have then I could be expecting over £7000 back from the two loans.

To work out your statutory interest you would put each repayment into the bank charges calculator http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges

and put the date it was paid and click add to charges list and it will add it up for you.

Its about half way down the page...

    Well done, great news.:beer::T:beer:
Hope Lloyds will be just as good with my loan ppi, had to take the credit card ppi to the FOS, although they finally resolved that one, fingers crossed I will not have to take it this far on these loan ones.;)

  • Just got £1468 back from Alliance and Leicester on my £5000 loan delighted!! 50" Plasma is now coming my way!!
  • Hi everybody

Hope you don't mind me posting here, but I just wondered how long the FOS cases are taking roughly at the moment. My husband's case has been with them since late December 2008. They do keep sending letters saying they're dealing with it, but just wondered what the average wait is for things to move forward at the moment? Anybody?

    Thanks in advance!
