PPI Reclaiming successes and failures
Comments
-
- What were you reclaiming: PPI
- Who was the provider: Bank of Scotland
- How much did you get back: £4162( inc interest) to be confirmed
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1st Letter
Received 2 holding letters, looking into complaint.
Today received a letter quoting my reasons and that they have considered the information available to them.
Having done so and in view of the fact I am a valued customer, they have decided to pay me an amount which will put me back in the position I would have been had I not taken the insurance.
They will contact me shortly to confirm the exact details of the amount that will be paid.
It is anticipated the payment will be made within the next month by cheque if an open account is not held.
They couldn't find details of my previous loan but I can ring them with the details and they will look into it. Telephoned 16/11 to give them my older loan number, he will log this as a separate claim with the same reasons, so hopefully wil not hold up payment on this accepted claim.
:j This is such good news, not had much of it recently and means I can clear some silly little card debts and keep some by to treat son his gf and us to a hol for their 18th's next year.
Thanks everyone for the encouragement and advice received.
Keep on keeping on claimers :T

Alliance & Leicester PPI reclaim success story here!
I had an 18 month loan from them in 2006 and was told I had to take out PPI or I couldn't have the loan. I started reading on here about PPI being mis-sold so decided to try & claim mine back. I wrote to them, and about 6 weeks later I received a cheque for just under £700 :-)
Great news lola, Congratulations.:T:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

I tried reclaiming PPI on a loan I took out in 2003 with HFC Bank. I had nothing to loose and followed your advice and I sent the letters using your templates. I have now received an offer of £8314 (including interest)from the bank. The whole process took about 2 months and I didn't need to go to the ombudsman.
Thanks this has really helped. I am now following your advice regarding the bank charges.
Brilliant Sue, Well done to you.:T:T:beer::j:jThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi Richard and welcome.;)
Yes go for it, but keep it in writing and post by recorded delivery, they should not ignore your complaint this way.
Give it a go by writing, giving your reasons.
They have 8 weeks in full to respond, keep at them until they resolve, or until they issue you with the final response, where if eligible you can take your complaint to the financial ombudsman service (FOS), they should enclose these details on the final response.
Do not worry about writing the amounts down at this time though.
For more info, check the link below, you will also find a checklist of mis selling reasons, if any of them also occur to you then write them as well, and you can use the templates if you want to, or as a guide in your own words.
Good luck with this, and ask for help if required, and please let us know how you get on.;)
well bit of a result, got a letter from First Direct. Stating that even though they do ont feel obligated to accept that the PPI was misold as a good will gesture they have offered me £3209.....not bad I have spoken to First Direct asking how they calculated this. I am happy with this amount, though I have worked out that they have left out 10 months worth of PPI which I paid off in full with PPI included. So it should be around £3600-3900 depending on what APR I had the loan on which First Direct said would find out and get back to me next week :T
Claim was agreed and responed within 4 weeks....not bad
Now for the 3 other claims to come through. Marbles, Lloyds TSB and Capital One
Bring it on!!!!0 -

Sorry all but I keep asking this in the hope someone has been sucessful in claiming. Has anyone managed to get a refund of Barclays Overdraft Protection? It works out I paid 80p for every £100 so was costing £20 or so a month, but has anyone claimed this back and is so what letter did you use?
Please?

Hi to everyone re-claiming for mis-sold PPI. I have been claiming against Loanmakers were our broker when we took out a loan with Picture.
I used the MSE template letters to get me all the way to the FOS.
Some good news, yesterday I received a cheque from FSCS for a total of £8,763.30. :jThis is broken down as follows:
This for us is a massive amount of money, it means we can really begin to get ourselves out of debt, and has come at just the right time!!!:T
Here's an outline of how quickly our claim was paid out by FSCS (especially compared to FOS!!!). Originally our claim was with the FOS for over a year till Loanmakers went under. I sent the completed compensation application form to FSCS on the 28th September 2009, and then received a letter from Deloitte on behalf of FSCS asking for some further information. I sent the additional information back to Deloitte on 19 October 2009. I was then sent the cheque for £8763.30 on the 13th November 2009. :rotfl:
Only snag is that they had my partners first name incorrect so have had to return the cheque!0 -
A very small amount but i am chuffed:j i rang Swinton when i heard about all the insurance policys having had ppi put on them and yesterday recieved a cheque for £52.50 from past vehicle policys:j0
