PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Once again congrats to all the sucess stories of late!!!
Just to keep you posted have sent 2nd letter to Nationwide CC for refund of PPI after reply stating I had not been misold.
Also have e-mailed 1st letter to Egg CC for refund of PPI.
Now just got to be patient!!
Just for everyones info these were both internet applications for CC.
Been sat here thinking had a loan with Halifax many moons ago which I payed off I'm sure it would have had PPI on, as the loan is all done with I have no details should I still have a go? How is the best way to go about this?0 -
I have been researching on this site for some time - and wanted to share a recent success to encourage others (as they have done for me)
I had three loans with A & L - all older than 6 years. When the PPI mis-selling became news I thought I had no chance because of the age of the loans. I foolishly destroyed the paperwork. (But subsequently found that I had written down the account numbers in a diary)
I came back to this site recently and realised that things had moved on quite a lot from the early days.
So I decided for the sake of a stamp it was worth a try.
I have been frustrated by the way in which A&L have handled my case - letters "lost" in the post and truly incompetant call handlers in their call centre. However, I have finally received an offer on the first loan - just over £2k. (correct amount as per rules)
This loan was taken out in April 1994 - settled in 1999. So for those of you who are worried about older loans - be assured that it can be done!
The only piece of information that they needed was the loan account number - they insisted on this but have established that once they have this they can locate the loan details in their archive.
The reason for the mis-selling was - I applied using a paper form and did not ask for PPI. I didn't need it because I am covered for Sikness etc by my employer. They called me and told me that they were very concerned that I wasn't taking it out - the rep would not get off the phone until I agreed - so foolishly I did.
Now waiting on the other two - and will post when I do
Hope this helps others worried about their cases.0 -

Hi there
Hopefully its a good result, maybe they are saying this as you do have the right to take this to the FOS if the 8 weeks have passed, fingers crossed its a good outcome but if not then yes go to the FOS.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi there, so they are trying to say they rebated as you refinanced the loan, so the settlement of the first loan would be lower as they reduced it, however if mis sold they should aim to put you back in the position as if you did not have PPI.
I would request that they send you in the post a detailed breakdown, ask if they can send you this information by 14 days in writing.
You could though if you've not done so yet, request a SAR (Subject Access Request) where they have 40 days to sent you all the information they hold on your account, there is £10 postal order or cheque request payment.
SAR template letter here:

You can see what comes back and if nothing makes sense, complain, if they do not resolve in your favour, then of course take your complaint to the FOS.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi there
For information on your loan, if you do not have them, have you thought about requesting a Subject assess request (SAR)?
Here is the template letter here on the link below.

Hope this helps, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
