I wouldn't have believed you if you told us it was this easy. One letter to egg and today arrives two cheques totalling nearly £1700. Bloody cracking.
Thank you, thank you, for all your help

Had a Halifax letter...they're paying me back £237 quid on the PPI for my credit card, so that knocks down that a bit! Still waiting for a Cap1 answer, and need to print off letters to send about charges!** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

- What were you reclaiming: PPI
- Who was the provider: HFC Bank
- How much did you get back: £2,255.92 ( inc interest)
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After an off the cuff mention of it on the phone.
Whilst discussing a different insurance complaint on the phone to HFC just three weeks ago, the customer service operator got his wires crossed and mentioned PPI. I told him that I would be pursuing a mis-sold PPI claim in due course.
In due course turned out to be them acknowledging my complaint by way of mentioning it in the telephone conversation and in a letter dated two weeks ago they let me know they were investigating.
Got home last night and there was a letter in my mailbox relating to this complaint - the line that caught my eye was "I have now completed my investigation into the issues you have raised. Whilst I do not accept the allegations you have set out, on this occasion, without any admission of liability and a gesture of goodwill, I am prepared to offer you an ex gratia payment"
That ex gratia payment turned out to be £2,255.92. This amounted to all the PPI that I had paid plus 8% interest.
I was expecting a long drawn out affair when I actually formally complained by letter - instead, they've rolled over due to my threat to complain. I've signed off the right to complain further on the PPI issue - that matter is now settled. I'll tackle the other insurance issue once the money is sat in my account when I can say goodbye to my Halifax Overdraft before the extortionate new charges come in. Next up to reclaim: PPI on Halifax, Capital One and Marbles cards - approx: £7000 -
