PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

hello friends
i got £391 back from M B N A just this week 11/ 09
tks to this site thankyou all
I would be interested to know if this was a first ime success, i.e. not the recent rulin that over 185,000 rejected claims were going to be reviewed by credit card companies.
I have been successful in reclaiming PPI pre-MSE days, but, I have also had claims rejected which I don't expect the CCC's to re-contact me meaning that I need to be pro-active and take my rejected claims to the FOS.
Has anyone re-applied against previously rejected claims. ?0 -
hi i put in original letter that i wanted to have the current ppi looked and also 6yrs worth i do not have dates or details of the past loans so i just asked for the last six yrs.they have only looked at it from 2008 when i took latest loan out i believe that i was always made to feel i needed ppi and was never told how a big amount plus interest was added to the cost of the loan .also if they put the apr up they are going to get more money back so they dont loose much by cancelling the ppi? no i wont be getting any money directly to me they are taking it off the loan0

Hi there, I see.
If they do not look at your older complaint, I would contact the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) and ask them to write to them on your behalf, they will do this if you request this.
http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/contact/index.html
Then also get a letter in to reclaim on the PPI and the interest, if this was mis sold to you, it belongs in your pocket.
However, if your not happy with the outcome of this, you can still contact the FOS, and they will also write to them on this matter for you as well, just explain the situation as you have in your above post.
Or if your not happy with the response, you could write back yourself and tell them your not happy, and you would prefer that the PPI is refunded directly to you, as you have been deprived of the money due to this being mis sold, and it was worthless to you (whatever reasons occur to you really).
Then of course if they do not change the decision you can complain to the FOS, they will then take over from there. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

After browsing the money saving expert website i came across the article about PPI (Payment Protection Insurance). I remembered an old loan that i took out in 2001 with EGG for £12000. I applied for the loan via the internet but was told an adviser would contact me with a decision about my loan. The next day an adviser called me and told me the loan was to be excepted on the condition that i took out PPI, as i required the money i had to take it.
I used the letter templates from moneysavingexpert just entering my details as required. After the first letter they tried to fob me off saying that because i applied on the internet i had read the terms and conditions and was not entitled to anything. I wrote back using the second template letter and received no reply. I used the third template saying that this would be the last letter i would send to EGG and the next letter would be to the Financial Ombudsman. Eight days later i received a cheque for £3516.00.
Stay persistant, do not take no for an answer and you should get your money back.
Thank you money saving expert.

Just had confirmation from the ombudsman that they have upheld my complaint against Egg for mis-selling credit card PPI. Now just have to wait for details of the settlement from Egg.
My question is, the credit card still has an outstanding balance on it which i'm paying off month by month. Will Egg just use the settlement figure to reduce the balance on the credit card or I be getting a cheque for the full amount?
Thanks0 -
Hey guys!
Wow cant believe the amount of successes this week! Well done!
I have had a reply from Littlewoods saying that they are not going to repay me as I took out the Catalogue with them in November 2003 and they were not regulated by the FSA until December 2003....so basically I cannot complain to the FOS and their letter was very rude and basically "you cant complain anymore so nar nar nar nar nar". I spent hours last night researching on the net and checking out all the Claimants to Littlewoods and they have all had the same trouble. Seems like such a joke they can get away with it as fair enough they were not regulated when I took it out but they were for the next 6 years....Anyway they must have been regulated by someone so today I instructed my solicitor (my friend - so the most this is going to cost me is a bottle of champers) and we have sent them a very strongly worded reply and I shall let you know if they still stick to their "nar nar nar nar nar" attitude.
