- What were you reclaiming: PPI
- Who was the provider: Alliance & Leicester
- How much did you get back: £1483 ( inc interest)
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After 1s letter
Credit here to A&L I sent the letter on 5 Nov 2009 & received an offer back yesterday 11 Nov 2009 for £1483, less than a week from letter to offer - is this a record ? Although I will have to wait & see how long it takes to get the cheque out to me.
Many thanks to all at MSE & all of you for all the postings here - been a huge help.

Claims Outstanding for PPI
Halifax - no reply yet
Northern Rock - Just received a ppi questionaire ? Anyone help ?
MBNA - denied misselling on the phone - awaiting response to 1st letter
Yorkshire Bank - Older policy ( 1998 - 2001 ) no reply yet0 -
Just had confirmation from the ombudsman that they have upheld my complaint against Egg for mis-selling credit card PPI. Now just have to wait for details of the settlement from Egg.
My question is, the credit card still has an outstanding balance on it which i'm paying off month by month. Will Egg just use the settlement figure to reduce the balance on the credit card or I be getting a cheque for the full amount?
Thanks0 -

Hi there and well done on your success  good luck with the others and hope you hear soon.
in regards of the questionnaire, they should actually still hold all your details if this was taken out over the last 5/6 years, and its becoming a procedure of them sending these out now.
I would complete to the best of your knowledge and any questions that relates to your complaint, that you have already sent them by letter, write this next to the questions (please refer to my letter sent to you dated XX/XX/XXXX).
And on the ones you cannot remember (Please refer to my account, as I am aware you still hold these details of when you sold me the policy on XX/XX/XXXX).
Hope this helps, they still have 8 weeks as from your original letter.
MBNA, write back to them again to ask them to reconsider, keep at them until you recieve the final response, which should include details of the financial ombudsman service (FOS) you can then take your complaint to these if your not happy with the final outcome.
Yorkshire Bank, chase them up, how long has it been since you wrote to these? Also Halifax?
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
- What were you reclaiming: PPI
- Who was the provider: HFC Bank
- How much did you get back: £2,255.92 ( inc interest)
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After an off the cuff mention of it on the phone.
Whilst discussing a different insurance complaint on the phone to HFC just three weeks ago, the customer service operator got his wires crossed and mentioned PPI. I told him that I would be pursuing a mis-sold PPI claim in due course.
In due course turned out to be them acknowledging my complaint by way of mentioning it in the telephone conversation and in a letter dated two weeks ago they let me know they were investigating.
Got home last night and there was a letter in my mailbox relating to this complaint - the line that caught my eye was "I have now completed my investigation into the issues you have raised. Whilst I do not accept the allegations you have set out, on this occasion, without any admission of liability and a gesture of goodwill, I am prepared to offer you an ex gratia payment"
That ex gratia payment turned out to be £2,255.92. This amounted to all the PPI that I had paid plus 8% interest.
I was expecting a long drawn out affair when I actually formally complained by letter - instead, they've rolled over due to my threat to complain. I've signed off the right to complain further on the PPI issue - that matter is now settled. I'll tackle the other insurance issue once the money is sat in my account when I can say goodbye to my Halifax Overdraft before the extortionate new charges come in. Next up to reclaim: PPI on Halifax, Capital One and Marbles cards - approx: £7000 -

- What were you reclaiming: PPI on 4 policies
- Who was the provider: Citifinancial
- How much did you get back: £3091.09
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One letter
- And then write your brief reclaim tale - Sent 1st letter with copies of agreements on 15th Oct 09, got a reply back on 2nd Nov 09 saying they were going to look into it. I didnt know how much rebate they had given over years with loans but they explained that. Also they gave me Interest on the premium based on % for life of loan. Only thing they havnt done is give me 8% interest. Their letter said this does not represent any admission of liabilty. Really pleased though because if i hadnt of found this site i wouldnt be sat here with a big smile on my face. Thankyou everyone who has helped me.
