Just thought I would post re my sucess story! Reclaiming PPI on a HSBC personal loan. At the time of taking the loan I was told face to face I couldnt have it without taking the PPI (and I accepted that!).

Got back just over £1900 for the cost of one letter! Got a reply saying they would reply within 4 weeks. After 4 weeks I got another letter saying they were dealing with complaints in the order they arrived (and they obviously get a lot) so needed another 4 weeks.

Got a letter today saying they dont believe me, dont accept my claims etc but are going to refund me anyway! I never expected an apology, all I wanted was my money back and thanks to this forum I seem to be getting it !

    Thanks again

    Mike

  • I Successfully claimed just over £3500 back from an EGG Personal Loan.

After browsing the money saving expert website i came across the article about PPI (Payment Protection Insurance). I remembered an old loan that i took out in 2001 with EGG for £12000. I applied for the loan via the internet but was told an adviser would contact me with a decision about my loan. The next day an adviser called me and told me the loan was to be excepted on the condition that i took out PPI, as i required the money i had to take it.

I used the letter templates from moneysavingexpert just entering my details as required. After the first letter they tried to fob me off saying that because i applied on the internet i had read the terms and conditions and was not entitled to anything. I wrote back using the second template letter and received no reply. I used the third template saying that this would be the last letter i would send to EGG and the next letter would be to the Financial Ombudsman. Eight days later i received a cheque for £3516.00.

Stay persistant, do not take no for an answer and you should get your money back.

    Thank you money saving expert.

    Hi there
So basically they have said to take out a new loan to pay off the existing loan (the new loan will be without PPI), and the rate is that higher than the original rate.
I assumed they should have offered the same rate or better, but maybe someone could correct me on that otherwise.

Did they actually confirm if they are going to refund you the ppi with the interest, directly back to you?

I would wait for other opinions on this one to be honest, but your entitled to reclaim on the ppi from all loans you have from them if mis sold.

I take it you have put it into writing on the older loan as well?
