Hi, well done on your latest victory, can you tell me if they put in a defence/you won on default or if you had to actually go to court? I've just issued papers to Black Horse and am wondering how far it will go before they cough up.Thanks. SUFC

    Hi,

I just put my claim through moneyclaimonline, and they put in a defence (though i've found that they all do this as a matter of course), then when the 28 days were almost up, their solicitor wrote offering the full amount.
I've claimed successfully from 14 companies for both Bank Charges and PPI refunds, and they all put defences in and i haven't yet once had to go to Court. The closest i got to that, was Natwest letting it get to the point where i had a Court date, but they paid up about 4 days prior to me having to actually go. Good luck with your claim, i'm sure it will be fine.

Hi just to let people know put in a claim with HSBC in March for personal loan protection plan and received today an offer of £1600.This includes all the premiums interest at 8 per cent plus early repayment penalties.Well pleased thanks to this site;)
  • What were you reclaiming: PPI mis-sold on a loan (single premium)
Who was the provider: Tesco Finance
How much did you get back: £1794 + £225 interest (£2019 total)
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: FOS

And then write your brief reclaim tale.......

Loan from 2004 for £12500 (with PPI + interest = 1650) with 6 months to go.

Two letters (using templates on this site) to Tesco on the grounds salesperson indicated we couldn't have loan without it and they didn't ask whether I would be covered elsewhere - was working in the NHS at the time. Received the usual replies “your decision, blah, blah”, “could have cancelled”..blah, blah. I was disheartened (I know, I know - I can hear the experienced people moaning and groaning!!) at this point and even posted on the discussion forum to ask if anyone had any success with Tesco and if it was worth pursuing with the FO. Thank you Elsie2 who said ‘why not, it’s worth a try’. I then cancelled the insurance and sent off my FO forms.

Started the process in October 07 and had response from Ombudsman about 3 weeks ago upholding my complaint as they were not satisfied I had been given satisfactory advice… basically told Tesco to give me my money back (which I had in the bank last week)….what a result!! I phoned the FO guy (just to check!) who told me they caved before they could chase them, or words to that effect.

I am so pleased to be able to report this success to others…. without Martin and this website would never have had this money back. I know others have mentioned it and I would like to add MARTIN LEWIS FOR A KNIGHTHOOD!!:money:
Thank you and others on this site – this is no small amount of money for me and my other half - still can't quite believe it. My whole year has been made. We can now pay off the rest of the loan and be £338 a month better off!! Yippee:T

I want to join all the other shout outs in a bid to encourage others, who may be wary, to have a go – you never know. Nothing to lose (well the price of a couple of stamps and a bit of time) and everything to gain!

Thanks to Martin, I've just received a cheque for £8500+ from Lombard for a loan I took out several years ago.

They refused to pay it at first, but just as I was about to send my second follow up letter I received one from them saying they would refund it after all.

I'm just about to try and get one recovered for my mother

Thanks a lot Martin, you're the man.

Congratulations Kymi, I have been onto Lombard for some time for missold PPI, they were having none of it. Have sent it on to Ombudsmen. Did you take out your loan by phone, how did you say you were mis-sold, am interested why they did the u-turn. Good luck with the claim for your mum.

Personal Loan With Added Ppi Which I Had Asked Not To Be Included
Received Refunded Premiums Of Over £1000
    8 Letters, 12 Phone Calls!!!

Watch Out For Banks So Called Payment Free Period At Start Of Loans- You Are Still Charged Interest Even Though You Are Not Paying Premiums - Simply Inform The Bank That You Do Not Wish To Have A Payment Free Period And They Will Refund You The Interest.

Be Warned- You Will Have To Put Up A Fight To Get Your Money Back, I Got The Impression That They Wanted Me To Go To The Ombudsman, The Longer They Keep Your Money The Better For Them!
  • I written to barclays about subject access, and they came back saying they could only find information against my name are the statements for the loan above. thats fine.

but looking at the statements these are not even my loan statements? Its Mr A Dunn but its not my loans statements, my father is Mr A Dunn as well do you think they sent me his thats a bit weird ????

Has anyone had any luck in claiming PPI on credit cards?

i've 3 credit cards, all paid off and cancelled - and it wasn't until i requested copy statements that i realised i actually had PPI on them?

I've requested barclays pay it back as it come to about £500 but they have basically said NO WAY we sent you the agreement you had a cooling off period where you can cancel it blah blah blah.

What shall i do now? give up?
