brightonbelle wrote: »Hi Crudgie, just wondered how long this took? I have a claim in with M&S too, they have sent me a copy of the original application form and yes the payment protection insurance box is ticked but its not my handwritting!! Where it asks for a signature its just written in block capitals and my name (and home town) is spelt wrong! It was filled out in store in 1996, but its clear that the form was not completed by me - althought I did sign the form at the end, and like your sister, for a long period of time my balance was high causing me anixety which meant that I didn't look at the statements and just paid the minimum payment by direct debit stuffing the unopened statements - for my siins - in a draw! Does anybody think I have a claim for mis-selling?
Any advise is appreciated.

in her case she completed the form online but didnt remember ticking the box or in fact unticking the box as some of these forms used to automatically include ppi unless you said otherwise.
It did help in her case that they could not find a copy of the original application but they did argue that it had been on her statement every month. The whole complaint was dealt with very quickly- only about 8 weeks from start to finish. I said she didnt really understand what this protection was and as she was so concerned with the balance it was only recently that she realised she had been charged approx £70 each month for this insurance. I would keep trying and re-emphasise that you never realised what this amount was for.

What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: £5615.00
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: All it took was the first letter
My girlfriend had a £16000 loan over 5 years, the PPI was another £3000+ on top. She was unsure whether to claim so said I would do it for her. I sent a letter at the beginning of March, letter back from Lloyds TSB less than 6 weeks later saying no records of conversation from 5 years ago, we give you £3065 + interest. Paid off the rest of the loan got the Car MOT'd, taxed and had some treats for ourselves and the rest of the money is in a high interest account.
Thanks MSE0 -
Just found out yesterday from HSBC that after ' thoroughly reviewing your case , I propose to uphold your complaint ' !!!!! They are giving me back all my PPI plus interest in total £3,218.29. After two letters to them they recommended that I contact the FOS ( cheek ), which I did immediately. I've had three letters from FOS , the last was last week saying they had not handed my complaint to the arbitrator yet because of the weight of complaints they were working with. I don't know if the FOS contacted HSBC but the FOS was mentioned in the letter from HSBC. Thank you so much Martin, it's all because you gave me the courage to give it a try. Like you keep saying all it costs is the price of three stamps !!0

Hi ,sent NR a letter in January and got a badly photocopied form back .I thought I would have little success given their current circumstance however they have accepted that I requested cancellation of PPI in Jan 06 on a £18,500 and have refunded wait for it £4,835.16 plus 8% interest £178.57 . The letter also states that I will be given a new account number but don't need to sign a new credit agreement and that the credit search they performed will be removed .Thanks Martin:j :j :j :j :j :j . I'm still jumping for joy now just have to decide whether to reduce loan, pay of credit card which I was just about to tart or be completely stupid and visit a tropical island for my 40th. Only kidding about last one .:rotfl:So finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x0

I had a loan from them about 5-6 years ago with ppi but not sure how much the ppi was. The loan was for £3000 and am sure the ppi was nearly the same amount.
We paid the loan off after only a couple of years so have sent them a letter from this site at beginning of march. Got a reply on 15th March saying they will carry out an investigation and reply shortly. Recieved another reply on 14th April saying they are in the process of gathering relevant information and preparing their final response, which will be issued in due course.
Does anyone know of any success stories with these?0 -

Halifax Loan PPI,
£408 repaid for PPI, all it took was 1 letter to the Halifax, I applied for the loan online, I opted to not take the PPI, and the application stopped a new screen came up and asked me to ring the Halifax & speak to an advisor, who was VERY pushy on the PPI, I expalined all this in my letter & last Friday received a letter telling me that they were upholding my claim & refunding the full amount plus the 8% interest. Thanks so much to this site for all the help and advice, next thing is for 5 more reclaim letters to be written. Will keep you informed as to my progressSparky0107 - Sealed pot challenge member #002. I'm not having much luck with these either. sent letter one 21st jan, got the same responses you have and still not answer and we're nearly into May. Many phone calls and still no further to a conclusion. They even suggested to me today to go to the FOS so i'm doing exacly that.0
