If they are going to take your loan agreement back to what it would have been like had you never taken PPI out I would be looking for them to return all payments made towards the PPI in cash as it is your money.
    Good luck
    HI Kinikki,
Thats what we think should happen to and am bemused as to why he said it is not possible.

Success with Barclays after weeks of fruitless letters to John Varley Chief Executive of Barclays Bank PLC and Customer Relations in Leciester, I have succeeded in claiming back a misselling of PPi insurance on my Wife's loan which she took for £25K, approx 4 yrs ago.

After watching the Tonight programme and reading Martin Lewis Website. I took it upon myself to try and tackle the issue with the Bank.

After lengthy letters and calls to the customer relation centre they were not having anything to do with it, and tried to brush the isue aside.

After deliberation and several letters to John Varley chief Executive I am please to inform you that today, yes today my wife has received a letter of apology from Barclays that in there opinion, my wife was missold PPI.

:rotfl: Yippee how much did she get refunded I hear you say?
4 yrs paying this loan !!!!
    :j £3584.66 full Insurance refund & £1118.17 interest refund
That makes a whooping refund of £4702.83 :T

It pays to be persistent but to the point you will reap the rewards back for a few letters and patients is virtue.

I would suggest and user who are encountering problems with Barclays write a letter and mention Martin ewis website and that tother people have won successfully against them, and they should deal with your complaint.

write to the following if you do not get any where, a letter to themain Boss will get things moving.

Keep optimistic, after several letters to his office and waiting months my case was dealt with so quickly, after I threated them with the FSA,if they did not resolve and am now happy with the outcome.

I am now awaiting them now to sort out my wife's overdraft charges will keep you posted on this.

Many thank Martin Lewis, for your excellent website and keep up the good work once again.

    Hi everyone,
To cut a long story short I have had a phone call from the ceo of first plus to say that they can not locate any of our phone calls regarding the purchase of our ppi. We believe that we were missold this policy on a number of counts including being told it was not optional. He personally has said as a result of our dissatisfaction he will offer us the all of the ppi plus interest (around £17k) but this can only be taken off our loan and not be given to us as a cheque. I asked him as to why we do not have the choice as to how our money is returned. He laughed and said he was exasperated at my suggestion of cashback! Effectively the missold ppi is removed from the loan as if we had not taken out the policy and our payments are reduced as a result. This makes sense but where in theory is the refund?? Are we entitled to this as cashback? I feel like we need some professional advice in deciding whether this is a fair offer or not. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi there, I am getting some back to myself and the rest of the loan. I am getting back what I have already paid and what I hgaven't yet paid is coming of the loan, I would speak to them again, although I am having trouble getting my money at all.
Claimed back almost £4000 so far from HSBC for mis-sold PPI
£2083.00 + £242.00 8% interest from FirstPlus and lower monthly premiums:D Studio Cards paid off my account and gave me £125.00 in gift vouchers. £500.00 Barclays.

Just had a letter back from Lloyds saying they have passed the matter on to General Insurance, however we never had any dealings with this company so surely they can not be responsible for the mis-selling. Are they just passing the buck/stalling? Should I respond now or wait for General Insurance to respond.
(The Policies were taken out 6-8 yrs ago and my OH was unemployed.)

I have partial success from the insurance arm of Lloyds. The loan was refinanced twice so 3 PPI policies in total with partial refunds given from the first two. The have agreed to refund the PPI from the first 2 (less the refunds given at the time), but nothing on the last - no admission of blame of course. A few questions?

    1) The amount they said they refunded on the first £500 more than what is showing on the statment - looks like a mistake should I ask for more.

    2) They said they will pay interest but not said what rate - should I ask before accepting? Worried if I try negotiating they will withdraw offer.

    3) They say they can't provide any documentary evidence (data protection) and should ask Lloyds bank for that - is that correct?

    4) If I accept for the first two PPI policy's can I continue pursuing the third one? - again don't want to risk them withdrawing the offer I have.

    5) The basis for disputing the third is a bit more tenuous. My OH knew he had PPI but didn't realise on re-financing they had sold him a new one each time. - although he can't remember much about the "sale" surely if they had done their job in selling it correctly he would have realised he was buying a new PPI policy. (When the original one was sold my OH was unempoyed, but not when 2nd and 3rd were sold) Any similar situations? Likely hood of success?

I need some advice on reclaiming ppi on insurance. I took out a loan with mbna and was told the ppi would cover if i lost my job which at the time i didnt realise i was about too. Since losing my job a few months later i phones them up to explain that i had lost my job and wouldnt be able to make the repayments and to use my insurance. They told me that i wasnt covered for job loss and only if i took redunancy which wasnt explained at the time. Do you think i have a chance????

After reading an alert that came through from MoneyExpert.com, I decided to take this up for my step-dad, who told me he had been in to the bank recently to cancel the insurance and they said no only if he took out another loan. Being a little bit older and computer shy and he also didn't know where to start he said forget it. But I used the template letter just changed it a little bit and started the process in November 2007, after 12 weeks, nothing so I sent them the next template letter. I received an acknowledgement.

This morning a letter came through telling him that he will be refunded £2907.00 plus interest.

Fantastic for a few pence for postage and a bit of perserverance.
Many thanks for all the help and advice MoneyExpert.com

good for you yousrh. Similar story with us and the CEO of FirstPlus. Martin Lewis and this website inspired us to claim for a missold policy for a huge amount. Having had several fob offs from their customer relation department, we went straight to the top man himself. Subsequently we are expecting his written offer in the post over the next few days, having spoken directly to him by phone. Like you i would encourage people to go to the top and not to give up.
