PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

If Lloyds are offering an amount then they must think you have a good case as Lloyds DO NOT give money away!
If you can wait for the FOS to take a look I would hand it on to them.DS1 12/10/04

Got nearly £2,500 inc intrest (lovely jubbly) from Clydesdale Bank for mis-selling me PPI,Told me (salesperson) at the time if i did'nt take this insurance out with the loan,I'd be probably get a knock back,And being a first time borrower and really needing the loan at the time they had me over a barrel so had to take it.
But now i have all "MY MONEY" back
Thanks a bunch MSE for highlighting this unfair & worthless insurance scam,

Not sure if this is in the correct thread as I did not actuly make a claim for my PPI
I recieved a letter from Alliance & leicester on 23rd September 2009 offering to replay all my premiums a total of £1534.50 plus interest of 8% to 30th September 2009 which was £414.32, making a total of £1948.82
This offer was made in "Full and final settlment" now as I had not made a claim and having checked my paperwork for this loan which was paid up in July 2007, I had nothing to lose by accepting the conditions
I have today 7th October 2009 received a cheque for the amount stated
Having read the forum I realise how fortunate I am
I wish every who is claiming back this cash all the very best
regards

That's okay Terry.;)
Yes I would contact/write to them to ask if they can change this so that its repaid directly to you by cheque payment, afterall its what is owed to you due to being mis sold.
I see you have said you have emailed them, ring them as well on Monday to make sure they have received your email if you have not heard anything by then, good luck.;)
Just to update i contacted Barclays and they reversed the credit to my card and sent me the money instead so good news.
thanks for your advice0 -

I have just looked at a loan aggreement the second of which i have taken out with beneficial finance to find that the 1st loan i took did not have PPI on it yet the 2nd loan i took did as the guy who sold it to me said that i would get a better deal with it on blah blah blah. I have just looked at all the loan paperwork to find all automated ticks in the boxes etc. I am in the armed forces hence the reason i would not need this protection unless i did something rediculously stupid of course. How do i stand??
I have something on here - somewhere.
I claimed back on behalf of my son - also in the Armed Forces. Claimed for 2 loans - re-financing, and eventually got back enough to clear the loan - and have somehing returned. Excess £5K - inclusive of interest applied. Good luck in your quest. Couple of letters and phone calls. Don't be put off. As long as you are paid when off sick - then they should not have sold you the insurance.
If necessary - PM me, and I can let you have copies of letters I sent.0 -
Hi
I have just recevied a letter from Egg saying that they are refunding me. I only wrote to them about 3 weeks ago!! However I would like the opinion of all you wise and experience people on here.
Egg dont seem to have actually admitted liability for misselling, but neither is good will mentioned anywhere. The letter says:
'After carrying out a full review of your complaint about your loan payment protection insurance (PPI), we have arranged for all premiums charged to your account to be refunded in full, together with the associated interest charges as follows:
PPI premium on loan: £656.15
Less PPI refund taken off loan (I settled early): £301.72
Refund of interest charged on PPI premium at contractual loan rate. £103.42
Total refund due: £457.86
They go on to say that a chq is in the post and they have resolved my complaint and therefore consider it closed but I can refer to the FOS if not happy etc...
What I would like someone to clarify... they havent added any extra interest that I asked for as I was deprived of the money. I understand that they dont *have* to do so, but if I went to the FOS I would probably get this, right?
I'm not trying to be greedy, its just the principle of the thing. However, I really could do with the money atm, and if I went to the FOS I would only get back another £50 quid or so, (I think) so is it really worth it?
I also dont know if I should bother cos of all the stress and hassle it will cause me (I have clinical depression and have just been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome!!)
What do you lovely people think?0
