  • What were you reclaiming: Credit Card PPI (online application)
    Who was the provider: EGG
How much did you get back: 2500
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: FOS
And then write your brief reclaim tale:

I applied for my EGG Credit Card online

I wrote to Egg requesting repayment of my PPI, they responded with as you applied online you ticked the box etc.

So I wrote back to Egg saying please provide evidence of this ticked box.

Egg sent back a copy of the screen print of my online application, which showed my name, address, bank details, employment etc. But what it did not show was anything to do with PPI. That is until you look further down, at the bottom of the screen print was an ‘for internal use only’ type section which they obviously uses to mark your credit scoring, credit limit etc. In this section there was a text box stating Payment Protection amongst other things.

So I wrote back to Egg saying that an internal manually edited text box is not proof that I ticked the box.

Egg response was their usual standard put off reply, so I went to the Ombudsman who I eventually heard back from saying that Egg have agreed to repay my PPI !!!!
  • I tried to claim for the PPI i was missold by Egg. They flat out refused to pay anything as they said i had agreed to it. I didn't think i would get anything out of it so thought i've got nothing to lose when i saw an advert for a company that deals with it for you. I gave them the details and now, 4 weeks on, Egg have agreed to refund me £2000 plus interest. I have to pay the company i used 25% of this but at the end of the day that is a huge amount of money that i can now use to pay off some of my debts.

What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
Who was the provider: Alliance and Leicester
How much did you get back: 1500
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 letter
And then write your brief reclaim tale: Sent a letter 3 weeks ago applying for money plus interest together with copy of loan agreement taken out November 204. Got a letter saying they were looking into it last week and got home this evening to say they are offering £1500 including interest. Considering we cleared loan off early i reckoned we might get £1300 so couple of hundred quick extra a real bonus.

    Brill, well done and Congratulations.

  • Hi all,

This is my first post and I would like to share my success with you. :j I am a member for a while now. Never really dared to reclaim but thought I'd give it a go this time.

What are you reclaiming: PPI on loan
    Who is the provider: Barclays
How much did you get back: just under £600

Reclaimed PPI on a loan of £5000, which I took in 2003. Did not think this was going to work but got PPI paid back just after writing a letter to the provider. I sent a letter without claiming interest but got the interest repaid as well.

To those, who still has doubts about reclaiming I would say : It is worth a try!
