Hi All
Am new to this so please be patient with me! Took out a credit card with John Lewis (either by post or telephone cant remember) I payed 35 pounds a year for PPI. I think I transfered the balence after about a year and payed the card off. I then recieved a statement for 60 something pounds from John Lewis?? I called to explain that i had closed the account months earlier to be told the card was payed off but the account wasnt closed and the 60 odd pounds was 35 pounds PPI plus interest because I hadnt payed it straight away ( I hadnt recieved ANY statements since the one telling me my account was at zero!!) Was informed i should have contacted the PPI company direct to stop the insurance when i payed off the credit card. As im a housewife (and have been for ten years) I didnt understand about insurance and assumed as the balance was at zero, number one why would i want to insure anything and number two i thought the account was closed so didnt think anybody would be able to take any money from the card. Tryed to put my point across but was fobbed off and had to pay. As it was only 2 amounts of 35 pounds and some interest is it worth bothering trying to reclaim?
Would be grateful for any help.
Ps I dont have any paperwork.0 -

Hello and welcome.;)
I would personally start by requesting a Subject Access Request (SAR) where they have 40 days to send you all they hold on you, a payment of £10 should be enclose by either cheque or postal order for this request.
A link here to the SAR template:

I would post by recorded delivery - as this is your proof of posting.
For more information on reclaiming check this link here, when you ready and if you require help on this please ask.

Of course you can always try writing to them to ask if they can send the copy of your agreement for a £1 postal order or cheque payment, this will or should be supplied to you by 12 days of requesting this, however with a SAR more useful information may come back.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
- What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
- Who was the provider: Egg
- How much did you get back: £1338.99
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: First Template letter
- And then write your brief reclaim tale
Just have this claim and 1 outstanding for Lombard who told me the same thing about needing the PPI to get the loan!0 - What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI

Hello everyone,
Has anyone or do they know anyone who has had any success with PPI mis-selling claims from Egg credit card or Virgin Money/MBNA??
Thanks0 -
I have had fantastic success claiming PPI from all the cards I have had it on!
If you are still thinking about claiming, stop thinking and write a letter. You do not have to do any donkey work the card companies do that all for you. I used the template and sent it to my 2 credit cards and 2 store cards and this is what I have had back.- Halifax One Card £598
- Abbey Platinum £126
- Dorothy Perkins £278
- Burtons £87

Hi
Yes I have literally had a call about an hour ago from MBNA who run my Abbey card and they have given me £125 which is half what they owe me. I should have stood firm and held out for the whole lot. Unlike most other companies that just send a letter MBNA will ring you and negotiate. But give it a go it is well worth it!
Good Luck0 -
Thanks for that!!
Can you tell me the address you sent your letter to?0 -
