Hi guys
Hope I'm posting in the right area! I've finally heard from Northern Rock, 11 wks or so since I started my ppi complaint. I used the template from this (adapted to my needs) and I also made a slight (!) nuisance of myself with weekly phone calls for updates. Having sent off the first letter, N.R replied with no actual letter, just a very ominous statement stating that I still had arrears from years back - the first stalling attempt. Un-deterred I wrote back stating that I was disappointed that they only felt compelled to notify me of my arrears following my complaint. I also phoned them and was told that since I had reduced my payments for a brief period a few years ago, my arrears were only 'technical' and there was no need to adjust my monthly payments to them. I stated that I would be happy for my arrears to be deducted from my reimbursement...
Anyway, I continued to phone them every week after posting the request for details (their 2nd standard stalling response). The best advice I can give anyone dealing with them is to keep checking that they have received your paperwork and make a note of every phone conversation / what is said. They DID lose my paperwork 3wks into the process and although the staff were all lovely to talk to, there was seemingly NO communication between departments. What followed was a LOT of frustration with various N.R staff asserting that I would receive a final response by a certain date, which never happened. I was the proverbial dog with the bone....
11wks, 3 letters and 12 phone calls later, today I found out that I am to receive my ppi repaid in full plus interest. What was a loan with 6k remaining at a cost of £149 pcm is now a 2.6K loan restructured to a cost of £103 pcm. My £1800 of 'arrears' have evaporated and I am to receive £3300 into my nominated account. In short, the cost of a few stamps and a little frustration has yielded over £6k!! I really can't believe it. I can only say a huge thank you to Martin, the team and all of the guys contributing to this forum. And to anyone considering it - go for it!!:T:T0 -

I sent my second letter to Capital One about 3 weeks ago claiming refund of PPI on credit card. The first letter back from them had denied liability but I persisted with the follow up letter. Today the reply from them reiterates their first letter but offers a good will payment of part of the payments plus interest - £1039 - to be paid into my account. I am going to accept this even though it is partial as I could really do with the money as soon as. I still have a claim outstanding with Mint who have not yet refused but have contacted me to assure me that they are looking into the matter. I intend to pursue this one to the max following this positive experience and now that the immediate financial pressure is off me. Thank you to Martin and this invaluable website. Will report back with - hopefully - more good news soon.0

- What were you reclaiming: Loan
- Who was the provider: MBNA
- How much did you get back: £2447
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: i used the template letters provided by this site, they replied straight away saying that the PPI wasnt mis-sold and that if i should contact the obudsman if i wanted to take it further, on contacting the obudsman they then agreed to pay out near with in a month of the obudsman receiveing my complaint stating that it was a 'goodwill gesture', i received the total amount of PPi that i'd paid plus interest and £100 compensation. i am now doing the same with Hamilton Direct

Got a letter through this morning after submitting a PPI complaint letter to Egg Banking PLC about a week ago. They have looked into my case and are refunding the full amount in PPI that I paid out plus the interest I asked for, total cheque to be sent to me £2652.11. Brilliant! I am a self employed person and this is after sending only one letter of complaint. Awesome!
