PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hiya,
This is fab advice! I have had 2 loans from Halifax and PPI on both( When I enquired about my loan I was told that I would need it as a source of back up. I reluctantly took it. When the paperwork came through the post I only signed the loan agreement, I ignored the PPI one and never sent it back. They still decided to add it to my loan so I sent a letter to them today and have also asked them to include a loan I took out in 2003/04. Keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed
) Wish me luck!

HELP!!!
ive been trying to claim back from Black Horse and after several letters from them I decided to try the FOS,but today I got a letter from them saying :-
Having looked at the information you have supplied to me,it would appear that your complaint against BH relates to events which occured on the 29th March 2003.At this time BH was not a member of the General Insurance Standards Council or the FOS.On the 14th January 2005 the FOS became responsible for looking into the complaints against formers members of GISC about events that occured while the firm was a member of the GISC.
It is possible however, that you may be entitled to pursue a complaint against the underwriter(insurer),which provided your policy cover (although this will depend on a number of factors).
How do i go about finding out who the underwriter is??(i dont have the policy booklet:()and what other steps can I take ?Lastly .....is there an address for BH as most addresses I write to seem to have moved away ,or BETTER still ...a phone number ,Be grateful for any help:):):)THANX x

Personal loan from Alliance & Leicester
Reclaimed £2186.76!
I recieved a letter out of the blue from A&L saying that they were looking into mis-sold loans and that if I thought mine was mis-sold, to contact them.
I checked Martin's PPI articles and then rang A&L telling them that when I took out the loan, the sales agent told me that I would only qualify for the loan if I took out PPI.
A few weeks later I got a letter offering me £2186.76 saying that A&L "were unable to establish whether I was provided with sufficient details to allow me to make an informed decision".
Happy days!
I am now going through all my old paperwork and have found 5 more possible PPI reclaims!Reclaimed so far:
Alliance & Leicester £2186.760 -
I need some help.
I have had a letter today from HBOS saying they can refund me:
PPI - £2396.24
PPI Interest - £601.92
Interest refund at 8% - £456.30
Totalling - £3454.46.
BUT they are not paying out because the loan was closed/settled in July 2006 with £8803.14 balance outstanding. I had been made redundant at that time. Now I had repaid back around £900 - £1000 in PPI. Should I be requesting that this amount be refunded?0 -
Hi All,
Just thought I would let you know that I have won £4300 from Lloyds TSB today, which is sitting nicely in my savings account now.
10k loan taken out in 2002 over 60 months PPI was £2203, Compensation was £200 and interest was the rest.
Don't know how they calculated £4300 I was shocked, I expected between £2500 and 3k. I am not grumbling tho.
Just wanted to say thank you to the Martin and the people who have helped me on hear.
Thank you.

Hi Kazdolly
Sorry to hear this.
I thought that just as long as they were covered by either of these then the FOS would still be able to investigate.
You could if you wanted to ask the FOS to track down on who the insurers are/were, they should be able to do this for you if you request this.;)
Good luck kazdolly, please keep us posted.

Hi there.
I am a little confused on this.
So because this is settled, they are telling you they cannot pay out?
Is this what you mean here?
This should make no difference, but yes they should refund all you have paid in PPI plus the interest you can also request for as well.
Any problems, contact the FOS and explain where you stand on this, just to be sure:

Good luck and please keep us posted.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

If the latter is the case then i would say they are within their rights to take the money against the outstanding balance you owe them (if it was written off??) but if you actually settled it early and repaid to them this £8803.14 (from redundancy money perhaps) then I would say that you should be entitled to reclaim it back.
From your post it seems that you left an outstanding balance unpaid on the account and then they have stated that they are not paying the redress money over to you???. Is this correct cause if this is right then surely by reducing what you owe them is better than having a large amount outstanding. As this was only 2006 and if not actually "written off" then they would be entitled to collect this for 6 years I think from the date it was outstanding plus interest and fees perhaps.
I too am confused by this?? Can you please clarify?0 -
Hi all,
Haven't been on for a while as I've been waiting for the outcome of my claim against Loans.co.uk which went to the FOS and has taken over 18 months to be dealt with!! I finally got their decision - they upheld my claim - and Loans.co.uk are now supposed to be paying out. However, Loans.co.uk have now exceeded the 8 week time limit given by the FOS to contact me with details of my payout. I contacted the FOS last Wednesday who emailed Loans.co.uk. Up to today still no response!!! I am quietly seething...............0
