PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hello
I reclaimed PPI charges from Halifax credit card after they added it on to my account without my consent and I thought I would get back about £120 after paying around £3 a month for 3 1/2 years...I got the cheque last week and got £700!!!! The majority of the money came back from interest that I had paid on that £3 a month...just proves how much money they are making from PPI's. I find it disgusting, especially as we have just bailed out Halifax with tax payers money!0 -
Cant do any harm, when I didnt get my letter saying the FOS had received my acceptance form, they rang me and said what the letter said and they would resend it and also said that any problems contact her (even though the letter said Egg) and when I got the letter there is email address of the lady who sent the letter.
If you have that I would let them know what Egg are up to.DS1 12/10/04

Our present loan was a top-up with the same conditions, but they have refused our claim on this one, so it is now in the hands of the ombudsman. We had originally thought of using one of those no win, no fee companies, but are now glad we didn't - more cash in our pocket! It was so easy using your templates, so thanks MSE.
Hi there well done! I just wondered could you advise how long it took you from start to finish and whether you had to go through the ombudsman?0 -
Hello hope you are all well this morning- i am now i have 2 days off!!!!
can anyone tell me how long Barclaycard take to respond following the return of the questionaire they sent??
Also i wish FSCS would hurry hurry hurry up!! :rotfl:0 -
Thanks to this fantastic and informative site and people I have had my first PPI Claim success.
The claim was against First Plus and it only took the first letter of complaint. They have agreed to repay the PPI of 9726.00 plus interest less a settlement figure as we repaid the loan early. So the final total is 8726.00 and it really couldn't have come at a better time as we've been struggling so much financially.
Its took just under 8 weeks to be resolved, I had a response to my letter within a week, another letter 4 weeks later to say still investigating and finally an offer letter today.
To all those not sure about reclaiming, it really is worth putting an hour aside and getting those letters sent. I was prepared for a long hard fight to get my money back and in the end I was suprised I didn't have to go through all that.
I have one more exisisting loan with First Plus, so once the money is in the bank the next round of letters begin. It also helps that they have agreed the previous policy was mis sold so can only stand goodstead against the policy we have currently.
So once again a huge thanks to this site and evertone who offered their very helpful advise. :T0 -
:j:j:j:j at last a win for me:T:T northern rock, i had two loans with them that i did on the internet ( so that is a bit of hope there for people who did loans on line to make a claim ) put initial letter to nr in feb this year they responded very quickly, they came back with the fact i did it on line and i was aware of what i read in the terms and conditions!! sent complaint off to fos, end of feb , then 3 weeks later i recieved a letter back from fos, with my original form and all the paperwork i sent to them! asking me to fill the form in with my complaint and send any relevent paperwork to them:mad::mad: i sent back to them what they sent back to me:mad: with a very stern letter, i recieved an apology back from them. then yesterday i had my complaint up held and the two loans will be put back as if they did not have ppi on, and the ppi payments i had made to date plus interest. that is a nice little sum of £1539.78, many thanks to all of you for the help you give to people :A:A:A i would advise any one who has had a loan put back to the original position just to check the payments are the same as they were on the original agreement, i am going to telephone fos this morning as both loans without ppi are between them over £50 more than they were on my original agreement, dont know why this is but when i find out i will post it,0

Loans - July 03, June 04, Dec 04 and Dec 05
Co-Operative Bank
Refund of £3,976.51
Got the offer after sending off only one letter
I sent off my letter on 22 May 09 to the Co-op Bank after I realised that I had paid PPI on part of my loans (I had about 4 over 2 years totalling £16k) I only paid PPI over the first year and then decided that I could not afford it.
After my initial letter, I received a couple of letters back from the Co-Op saying that they were looking into it and that they would get back to me.
On 10 Aug 09, I got my offer letter through.
I still have an outstanding loan but this offer will be taken off my loan amount and instead of paying £250 pm, I will now be paying £166 pm intead, leaving me with a £7k debt, which I feel is a lot more manageable and I feel a lot happier financially.
I never thought I would get anything back, I thought it was going to be difficult.
I have been having trouble paying off my loan and I have had lots of back payments that I needed to pay so whether their pay out is a result of me not being able to pay my loan I am not sure but I am not going to turn my nose up at it, I'm taking the money and running!
