    • What were you reclaiming: (loan
    • Who was the provider: northern rock
    • How much did you get back: £1873.63
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: all back from 1 letter using Martins template
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
Sold PPI with my loan over 10 years argued that I could only claim for a year if anything happened and had other policy in place- therefore misold.

Got all money back, plus good will; gesture and suggested interest ! only took a month in total !

    Hello there and welcome.
    Well done and Congratulations.

    Hi terry876

Can you let me know how long you waited for the ombudsman to deal with your case as i've been waiting since FEB 2008 and it still hasn't been passed to an adjudicator? Egg ae at it as they have taken 6 weeks to reply to a query that the FOS sent them and they still haven't replied. It's disgusting!!!

Good to hear someone winning against Egg though.............hopefully mine will be before Xmas!!:o

    Hi all,
just to let you know even though the Ombudsman ruled in our favour mid July, EGG still have not stumped up the money, following advise on here we pestered them with e-mails, today a nice lady from Egg has rung to explain that a calculator being built has gone wrong and they cannot calculate the amounts of refund! Until this is built she says no one is being paid, after that we will be paid in date order. Timescale maybe 7 days maybe 30 days who knows how long is a piece of string?
  • Hi All,

As stated on this forum previouosly been reclaiming PPi for my mum.
Got a letter from HBOS the other day saying after investigations they are going to settle and put her in the position she would have been if she didnt take out the PPI. Just need to wait and see how much but they said they will settle by end of August.
Got this reply just after the 1st template letter. Just wish the Clydesdale were a but more helpfull they asked to fill out a questionaire then turned it down and told us to go to FOS. Which is what we are going to do!!

Hi there, yes a good case there.;)

The FOS do actually have large volumes of these complaints, it may take a little while.

For example within 2 weeks you should receive a confirmation letter to let you know they have received your complaint and that they will request for all the information from the business as well, then you will be in the queing system to be passed on to the adjudicator.

This bit can take some time, but then as soon as its with the adjudicator, if all straight forward it can be about 6 weeks, but if it gets more complexed and the bank does not agree with the adjudicators decision, it will then be moved on to the ombudsman, again there is some waiting time on this, but if in financial harship, let the FOS know on the complaints form, and request for fast tracking.
There is also a queue for this but hope they can deal with this for you sooner rather than later if it comes to this.

    Good luck.;)

Thanks to this fantastic and informative site and people I have had my first PPI Claim success.

The claim was against First Plus and it only took the first letter of complaint. They have agreed to repay the PPI of 9726.00 plus interest less a settlement figure as we repaid the loan early. So the final total is 8726.00 and it really couldn't have come at a better time as we've been struggling so much financially.

Its took just under 8 weeks to be resolved, I had a response to my letter within a week, another letter 4 weeks later to say still investigating and finally an offer letter today.

To all those not sure about reclaiming, it really is worth putting an hour aside and getting those letters sent. I was prepared for a long hard fight to get my money back and in the end I was suprised I didn't have to go through all that.

I have one more exisisting loan with First Plus, so once the money is in the bank the next round of letters begin. It also helps that they have agreed the previous policy was mis sold so can only stand goodstead against the policy we have currently.

So once again a huge thanks to this site and evertone who offered their very helpful advise. :T
