PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi
I'm very new to all of this - so please treat me with care!
I'm in need of some good advice off all you 'professionals'.
When all of this PPI reclaiming began I thought I would give it a try, and did so with some sucess. One letter to M&S and I got an offer of £600 - I almost bit their hand off.
So, sent a second letter (again to M&S, different card). This time they sent a letter back saying I wasn't entitled to claim as they could find a copy of the paperwork (which they sent me) and it clearly showed that I has 'ticked the box' and signed next to it to accept PPI. I agree I did this, but was in my opinion totally mis-sold. I had an ongoing medical condition, for which I had had previous surgery, no mention was made of the 'exclusions' to the policy (or the fact that I did in fact have the option not to take it out) was made by the guy signing me up for the card. I was very young, and very green in those days, I just did as I was told.
So - I accepted what M&S had to say. Is it too late to write to them again and say I'm not happy??
Also, did the same kind of thing with a card from GE Money, got the same response as I did from M&S. So same question goes for them.
All help and advice is appreciated. I'm a little less 'green' these days and am more than willing to fight my corner - just want to know if you guys think I have a case worth fighting!
ThanksScrappie

Hi
This all happened in Jan/ Feb of last year. One of the letters does mention the FOS - should I just go straight to them?
Also, I did send a request to the company for details of the total ammounts I had paid in PPI but never recieved these. Is this the same kind of thing as the SAR request? I didn't send any money, and don't recall it being called SAR at the time - I got the template off this site.
ThanksScrappie

To reclaim your PPI and cancel your loan, please go to cancelyourloan.co.uk

The claim works on no win no fee bases which makes it risk free which makes it worth while. We will perform an Audit on almost all credit agreements.
This includes:
* Secured Loans
* Unsecured Loans
* Hire Purchase
* Consolidation Loans
* Car Loans/Finance
* Credit Cards and Store Cards

Hi All, just thought I'd post a big thankyou to all the advice posted on these forums. I've been a lurker for a while, and followed the successes, and wanted to share my success with First Direct!
Printed off the template for reclaiming PPI on the grounds that I was missold PPI due to being covered by my employer in the event of sickness, a fact I repeated on numerous occasions to the advisor on the phone at the point of taking the loan! But I was made to feel that I had to take the PPI like so many others I've read about on here!
Sent 1st letter in July, after debating whether to bother for about two months, got a letter a week letter acknowledging my complaint and that I would receive a response within 10 days!
Came home to a letter from them with a goodwill offer of £4725 including 8% interest, but not acknowledging any responsibility!
Happy as larry doesn't quite cover it! My mood which has been sour for a while due to my finances suddenly picked up!
Now to chase up Egg and Mint and see if I can get anything back from them!!!
If there are any lurkers out there reading, go for it! Seriously I never in a million years thought I'd be successful, especially with only one letter!!0 -

You usually only have six months from the final letter mentioning the FOS to go to the FOS.
It may be worth writing to both companies again stressing that although you signed it you were not told about the exclusions on the policy.
It is £10 for an SAR if you want details of your accounts, very rarely some companies wont charge so this is probably why you didnt receive anything.DS1 12/10/04

Successfully reclaimed PPI on 2 previous loans with Lloyds TSB and was surprised how much we got back - over £7500 !! Our present loan was a top-up with the same conditions, but they have refused our claim on this one, so it is now in the hands of the ombudsman. We had originally thought of using one of those no win, no fee companies, but are now glad we didn't - more cash in our pocket! It was so easy using your templates, so thanks MSE.0

- What were you reclaiming: (loan
- Who was the provider: northern rock
- How much did you get back: £1873.63
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: all back from 1 letter using Martins template
- And then write your brief reclaim tale
Got all money back, plus good will; gesture and suggested interest ! only took a month in total !0 -
