I took a loan out with Lloyds TSB in 2002 and was sold loan protection, even though I told them I was soon to be seld employed. One letter and three weeks later, I recieved a letter back with the offer of a full settlement plus interest to date. I simply returned the letter with a declaration to say I accepted the offer in a pre-paid envelope provided. Less than two weeks later £1402 plus interest of £290 was paid directly into my bank account. IT WAS SO EASY! Thank you Martin!0

I have just got back the PPI full amount from A&L. I only sent one letter and within 14 days I had the cheque. Now going to write to try and get back the PPI from A7L from a previous loan. I'm hoping it will be as easy but some how I doubt A&L will deal with a second request quite to eagerly!
All thanks to this wonderful website0 -
What were you reclaiming: Personal Loan
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: £354.17
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Just One letter (1st template letter from this site)
And then write your brief reclaim tale
I did this on behalf of my wife as we had already been successful claiming back her bank charges so we thought that we'd give this a try also.
She had a personal loan in 2005 which she paid early.
After seeing the reclaim information, we looked at her old paperwork and discovered that she had a single premium policy and she also thought that it was compulsary with the loan.
So we sent one letter on the 18th Jan 2008, (the first letter of the templates) asking for it back.
We got a response saying that they were looking into it and that they would be in touch.
Anyway got home 3 days ago and we had a letter saying that they were willing to refund our insurance.
What a result.
I dont know whether it is because we took them all the way to a court summons in the small claims court before they settled out of court with our bank charge reclaim so they knew that we were serious and they just paid up or whether it really is that easy but I would say just go for it.

Guys,
If anyone has gone to FOS can you please update the Fos time scales thread that I have started.
Lots of questions have been asked about how long it takes, so if you could all record it there, it would give everyone more of an idea what kind of time frames we are looking at!!!
Hope this will be of use to people!!

Hello Martin,
Firstly a BIG thank you for helping me reclaim ££££'s with your template letters and advice on this site. Information has been very easy to understand and follow.
Early part of 2007, I successfully claimed £1495.00 back from unlawful bank charges from the HSBC. This was received exactly after an eight week period from the date of my calculation letter. Today I have received a letter from the HSBC saying they will uphold my complaint for the mis-selling of the PPI sold with a personal loan in 2005. After paying £53 in 39 installments, they have cleared the rest of my personal loan and refunded me £300. I still had 7 months of £388 per month to pay on the loan so as you can imagine I am over the moon.0 -

- What were you reclaiming: credit card
- Who was the provider: Marks & Spencer More card
- How much did you get back: £448.75
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One letter
- And then write your brief reclaim tale: Sent the first letter not knowing exactly how much I might be due. Got letter saying they were looking into it and then 4 weeks later a letter saying £448.75 which was total amount paid plus interest had been credited back to my account as a goodwill gesture.
Thanks to this site all it took was the price of a stamp - wish the others were so easy! :T0 -
Firstly, I would like to say a massive thank you to Martin and the MoneySavingExpert website. A friend from work recommended the site to me and commented that I might be able to Reclaim my PPI back.
I reclaimed my PPI insurance from Lloyds TSB for the reason that I was mis-sold my policy and also that when I tried to cancel my loan protection insurance over 2 years ago I was informed that I couldn't unless I refinanced my loan. (Lloyds have in the past few weeks changed this rule so you CAN cancel your PPI and continue with your loan). I didn't refinance my loan with them at that time and simply continued to pay the PPI.
I used the template on the webiste and drafted and sent the letter to Lloyds on the 13th February 2008, stating the reclaim reasons above and that I wanted to be refunded my PPI for the entire length of my loan (I have 9 months left to repay on a 5 year loan) and also the 8% interest amount that would be awarded by the FSA. This came to approximately £2900.00
I asked them to investigate and offset the refund amount against the remaining balance on my loan (£2100) and to refund me the delta to my bank account.
Today on the 28th February 2008, the balance of my loan has been cancelled and I have received a refund from Lloyds for £770 into my current account.
All I did was use the letter from the website and post it to them, not bad work for half an hours work over my lunchbreak and the cost of a stamp!!!
I would urge anyone who thinks they were missold their PPI to reclaim it from their bank. I had no contestation from the bank and as of today haven't even had a letter from them confirming the refund (I called them!).
Thanks again to the MSE team.

I took out a £15000 loan with Barclays on 20th August 2001 to be repaid over 7 years. At the time that I took out the loan I was advised that if I did not take PPI my loan would be declined. The interest on the loan was £4492.20 plus £4773.72 for the PPI. The quoted interest rate was 7.9% APR. After hearing about the misselling of PPI I wrote to Barclays on 4th June 2007. They replied on 2 July 2007 to say that I had not been missold the policy.I wrote again on 3rd July 2007 to say that they were wrong, they replied on 13th July 2007 to again refute my allegations. I referred the matter to the Financial Ombudsman on the 18th August 2007. On 3rd January I received a letter from the Ombusman to say that Barclays had informally agreed to refund the PPI plus interest. As the loan only had £2000 outstanding, this was paid off and I received a cheque for around £3000. It was a long wait but my patience paid off.0
