had a letter from first plus today containing a cheq for £19,560.32., in settlement of my complaint that i had been mis sold PPI. i can,t believe it. i can only say a massive thank you to Martin and this site for all the advice on how to claim in the first place, and to think when i recieved the letter from first plus saying they didnt think i had been mis sold, i nearly didnt write to the ombudsman cos i thought they would turn me down too. so anyone out there who is having second thoughts about complaining, get on with it straight away, you have nothing to lose and all to gain. i,m over the moon. thanks again Martin. xx

Blimey, well done, thats gonna look good in your bank account, unlike mine:rotfl:

is the 19,560 the full insurance premium?how long did all this take?
we've sent our 3rd letter asking for the telephone conversation...after all they can tell us what they like...they offered us 5,500 as a good will gesture which sounds like they want us to shut up and get rid of us!

  • i took out a loan from welcome finance a while back i read your site and realised that i might have a claim i used your template letter and sent it off to the local office i received a reply from them a couple of weeks later stating that i basically had no chance because i signed the forms and didnt cancel the insurance within the thirty day limit so tough, i did not accept this reply and sent another letter off to the same place telling them so they replied to me again with another rejection letter so i sent all the correspondence to their head office and within 3 weeks i received a cheque for £1200.33 :T it just showes you should not give up if you believe you are right too many of these companies and banks take the rip out of people like myself who have little or no money at all and i work hard for every penny i get i think they can smell the desperation a mile off.

Hi congrats on your win. Can i ask what address (head office) you sent it to. I have sent numerous letters to mere way but just keep getting rejected. I was clearly mis sold PPI along with their other products that i had to take to qualify fro the loan. I have passed it onto the FOS but it seems there is light at the end of the tunnel, for some . Well done again, glad someone got what they deserved.

Wow Wiz, thats fantastic, well done.
  • Hi, first post for me and in desperate need of advise on how to proceed. Have just received negative response from FOS on PPI complaint with Cap One, stating the complaint cannot be upheld. Has anyone got any experience on what to do next as can't see a lot of failure stories after involving FOS - not so confident on taking court route for PPI albeit done this successfully with bank and credit card charges...

After calling alliance & leicester with regard to my ppi

i received a lttr saying they would look into it.

i have now received a letter today stating that they will repay my £555.93 that i have paid and will cancel the ppi from the remainder of my loan

all in all the total amounts to £988.32.

really looking forward to receiving that big fat cheque.

    many thanks to everybody.

with the site i have now gotten cheaper car insurance cheaper mortgage and now money back on my ppi on my loan

you won't have to wait long, I got my cheque today, £1200 in my hand and £46 a month better off now the ppi has been cancelled!
  • I have a £13,000 loan with Alliance and Leicester that will be finished in 12 months time.
I had ppi with this loan, i used a template from Martins site, sent a letter explaining i was miss-sold the policy because i was not told that i didnt need the insurance.
Today i have received an offer from them for £2130.66 that covers what i have paid, and interest.
The only thing is the time it took to sort out. Guess how long?
    9 days, thats all.
    I wrote to them on 13th feb, todays offer 22nd feb:beer: .
Cant wait till i get my money and then ask for the ppi back from my previous loan hahaha :rotfl:
Must admit a&l are a good company to deal with, never really had any problems, but not as good as martins:T
  • Dont give in, write to them again informing them of your next move, which will be to got he ombudsman. Good luck ;)
