Was told by Next that I had paid £944.37 in PPI since my account started:j Used template asking for it back as I never asked for it and I didn't need it as I am covered through my employer. They said, that PPI was regulated by the FSA Jan 05 and before that date were not subjected to FSA rules. I said, I believe I have been missold this policy want my money back with 8% interest or I shall go to FOS. They said, no money back as between the years of 1988 to 1993 they operated an opt-out scheme and for those years also asked customers if they wanted to cancel on their monthly statements, and as Next is not regulated by FSA for insurance sales therefore the FOS will not deal with my complaint!!! I said, I would like a copy of:
Agreement with my signature accepting PPI
Terms and Conditions of the policy
Name of insurers
Letter offering to cancel
Statement showing relevent part to cancel.
Received letter today my correspondence is now in the hands of their Legal Team.
Not sure if this is to frighten me or whether their Legal Team hold all the requested items.
Will let you know what happens.
Maria
thanks

I successfully reclaimed PPI of £600 including interest.
After watching the Money saving programme with Martin Lewis I downloaded the templates and sent Natwest the letter in early January and had to complain to the FOS and finally this week got a letter from Natwest offering to refund the money back to me.
Thank you very much!0 -
Receved a final response from the dreaded firstplus this morning they say
"having consided the complaint the senior managers of firstplus are willing to reach an agreement with me in an attempt to reach a mutually agreeable outcome."
offering an enhanced rebate on pro-rata basis of 78% of the insured premium which is £4.193.72 in addition to £1.135.79
they of course are admitting no liability
they go on
"this amount will be applied to the loan account and the ppi cancelled "
my questions are
can they do this?
will i still be paying the additional ppi premium for the loan term?
any advice would be helpfull
Sorry to say but you'll still be paying over the term of the loan. We had the same offer and I'm just printing out the ombudsman form to send off as I am not happy with what First Plus have done.0 -

I had the same garbage from them too and there was no way they were getting my money, so i wrote to the FOS.
About 2 weeks ago i had a call from the FOS who was looking at my case and i told him i wanted the money made payable to myself, and the payments recalculated.
I received a letter las week from the FOS to say that first plus are going to do what i ask with 8% interest etc. I'm now just waiting to see what First Plus' is going to offer me!!!!!!!!!!LBM Oct 07!!! :eek:Proud to be dealing with my debtsOfficial DFW Nerd #764 :money:PPI Successfully claimed - First Plus - £1800 Feb 08. I recently came on here to say i was waiting to hear from loanmakers who found a loan for me with Nemo. I wrote to nemo to say i felt i had been missold the PPI, they wrote back stating that the brokers were to deal with it and i have just received a reply from them, this is roughly what they stated.
They provided an 'information only' service in relation to the sale of the PPI. They confirmed that there sales advisors follow set scripts and states that i would not have been covered for any pre existing conditions, i was also issued with various documentation (i never recived a policy booklet) and they have also sent me a paper that i signed which does say that medical conditions existing in the 12 months before cover commences (at the time i was going through tests and told them this, they said this would not affect anything)
They state the insurance prem is £12375.00
interest cost of insurance £16614.00
total £28989.00
They are satisified i was aware of the terms and cons.
The state the importance of reading the policy booklet (which i never got)
They said that no further action to be taken but i can go to the FOS if i want.
What do people think, i think i have no chance.
They also said that as i paid the loan of early i wont get any money back from the PPI but if i kept it running to the end i would have and also that i cant cancel the ppi
Shall i just go for it and send martins second letter?
Help appreciated0 -

lm not an expert but if you put this on ppi dicussions, there are experts on there who will help you. ln my opinion l would go for it any way, these firms all say bog off the first time because they dont want to admit they've stolen money off us! Good Luck.0 -

Jjust to say we have taken them to FOS
we recieved a small rebate from them after we settled the loan early
we were advised by GUESS WHO -FIRST PLUS!! to contact NEMO to ask for a rebate after we settled the loan.
Itelephoned Nemo and request a refund and they said they could only offer a small amount back and they sent the t & c booklet explaining what we would be entitled to if we settled early which we already had.
they would not have offered a rebate you have to ask.
they will only issue a rebate when you confirm in writing you wish to cancel the policy.
We didnt know we could havetaken it to FOS at the time so when I wrote back accepting it I grumbled about it in the letter but I am WISER now
good luck
