Have just received a letter from Halifax today offering me £2,500 refund of premiums paid - including interest!

The remaining element of the PPI loan has also been deducted from my outstanding loan meaning my monthly repayments are £50 lower!

This was after writing one letter of complaint a few weeks ago! I can't believe how quickly it has been sorted.

    Thank you very much :j

    Lovely, well done.:T
Congratulations and wow one letter only, this is excellent.

  • I was referred to this site by a friend & after doing some reading decided to claim back PPI I believed was missold to me by EGG.

I wrote one letter and after several 'thank you for your complaint, we're looking into it' letters I received a cheque for £528 being the full amount of PPI paid plus interest.

I'm delighted - many thanks Martin! I only needed to write the one letter.

Shortly after buying a flat in 2003, and getting my first mortgage I needed some extra cash for urgent work on the flat. I went to Egg who I had a relationship with already. I was given a quote including PPI. I was fiscially nervous, having just taken out a mortgage & it certainly felt to me like they were saying they'll give me the loan but I must take out the PPI. It annoyed me at the time but I was in an urgent rush and took it out. I have had other loans with them subsequently & did not take up the PPI. I'm very happy that this has been repaid to me now.

Thanks again - the money will finance our first ever family holiday - especially welcome as my partner was made redundant 3 months ago.

  • New to the boards, just a quick question. Im in the process of reclaiming these charges from 3 credit cards. Without pushing my luck, can anybody tell me whether i can reclaim 'charges' from when I withdrew cash on my credit cards? Stupid i know but yes, i used to do it!!!

    Thanks

I'd think you'd have trouble with that, just from experience...

In terms of PPI, I don't think we're going to have to worry about it anymore, have a look at this: http://money.sky.com/mp/features/news/2009/07/08/Consultation-on-PPI-launched.html

PPI is going the way of the dodo: it's just not financially viable, or fair.

Well done jpwhittle, sounds like you had some good luck and skill there... This PPI thing is helping a lot of people get their money refunded, excellent to hear it has effected so many Money-Savers.
