hi 2 sucess stories!
my dh and i both took out graduate loans at the start of our PGCE course, we took out the ppi to cover us if we left the course. however ppi did not cover the bursary. we also tried to cancel the ppi half way through the loan but we were told we were unable to unless we cancelled to loan and paid it off and paid an early payment fee. dh did this as it worked out slightly better for him as his was taken our slightly later then mine. i had to stay. anyway, we both applied for the claim, dh claim was turned down several times so he went to ombudsman (sp) and they ruled in his favour giving him just over £1000. This took about 9months for the ombudsman to decide so keep hanging ing there!

mine was slightly more compicated as they kept sending letters to my parents address even though i changed the address every time. the final letter that was in my favour never arrived so once dh got his letter i rang to investigate- the gen number had me dealing with very rude people who wouldn't give me any info as my postcode was wrong on their system, everything else was right! i asked for a supervisor and she eventually begrougingly gave me the correct number to call which i did and found out the bank and ruled in my favour even though they didn't agree with me- think it stops them paying the compensation out which my husband got. so i got £800 plus interest which i'm not sure how much it will be i'm just waiting for it to hit my account!

the bank was lloyds tsb, which neither of us bank with anymore!

We have today received a letter from Loans.co.uk regarding a PPI mis-selling claim on a First Plus loan they arranged for us in 2004. Just 8 weeks after our one and only letter to them (based on a template from this wonderful forum) they have reviewed our file and have

"come to the conclusion that you were not sufficiently aware of details regarding the Payment Protection Insurance policy and as a result we will be upholding this complaint.

To ensure that we make the correct level of payment to settle this complaint, we require additional time to contact the lender and validate the amounts payable to you and/or your account. Please allow us time to do this and be assured that the refund will be made as soon as we are in receipt of the information from the lender. I will contact you again in due course to confirm the amount to be refunded. I confirm that this is our final response on the matter. If you are dissatisfied with this final response, you may refer your complaint to the FOS within six months of the date of this final response letter."

We are elated and gobsmacked but also dubious as to whether this may be a delaying tactic. Would also like to ask if anyone else has received a response like this and what the final outcome was?

For information purposes for anyone else wanting to pursue this company they are at:

Loans.co.uk
Chester Business Park
Wrexham Road
Chester
CH4 9FB
(they come under the MBNA banner these days by the looks of things)
Tel: 01244-672000
e-mail: loans.co.uk_customercorrespondence@bankofamerica.com

:j:j

So pleased for you I am not being so lucky with loans.co.uk had to go through FOS and although Adjudicator agree it was mis-sold they still deagree and now it is with obudsman themslves... and taking forever.... So congrates hope they settle mine and EllBee's now...:beer::beer::j:j:j
I have 2 PPI claims all being dealt with by FOS could do with a win. I also have 1 PPI claim with FSCS because company gone bankrupt.

Sent in a complaint to Barclaycard back in February that was a blatent PPI misselling claim. They have sent letter after letter since asking me to hold on.

Spoke to a guy at Barclays last week and they said they are currently dealing with complaints sent in last November!!

The FOS arent any better. I sent a complaint in to them about Barclays and they told me they are so bsuy my case won't be heard for nearly 4 months!!!

I am starting to lose faith and patience here. Am tempted to take them to court but nervous about doing so on PPI

Help??

I know the feeling I have two cases with FOS that have been with them since July 2008 and still not resovled... I also have one that was with FOS from March 2008 and then moved to FSCS in Jan 2009 and that is still not resolved... I am definatley losing faith... but people here keep saying 'hang in there' so i am.

Good-luck and keep reading success stories they will keep you fighting...

Hi everyone

I received a letter today stating that First Plus were refunding my whole ppi insurance plus interest totalling £7000 minus a claim we made of £600, so thank you Martin Lewis!!!:T The reasons we stated were:
• Not advised that we could purchase PPI elsewhere
• Not advised that the insurance covered the first 5 years and not the term of the loan
• not explained that the policy premium would be paid upfront as a single premium and would be added to the debt and attract interest
We sent a letter first off stating that we felt we had been missold as listed above. First Plus sent a letter back saying basically "NO" and that we should contact the F.O.S if we wished. I sent my letter to the FOS with a copy of the letter and my contract (which I requested from FP) in February. FOS contacted FP and within months we received a letter stating they agreed and would forward a refund of my PPI.

Please do not give up as even if you have made a claim through your PPI, We are living proof that you can still be successful in your claim!!

So good luck to everyone!!:T

successes to date: Mortgage exit fees £300; council tax rebanded from E to D; PPI refund from First Plus £6400; next stop is Welcome and bank charges

hi all - just had letter from FP detailing out that they told us everything up front so if we have an issue to got to FSA...thing is they have still not send us any recordings of coversations which we requested in our SOA - should I keep pushing or give up? Loan was taken out in 2005 and my brothers can't remember what they were told by now!

any advice?

Hi there

I assume you mean the FOS (Financial ombudsman service)?;)

Yes do keep at them and ask them to send you the recordings as requested, or you will consider contacting the Information Commissioners Office (ICO), they should have provided everything you requested as on the SAR which also includes recordings.
I take it this is a loan sale as from Jan 2005?
If this is the case I am aware they did record call then.

For more information on ICO check here for contact details, if you do need to contact them though, ring and do not email, as there is a queing system with emails normally, good luck.
https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx
You can ring the ICO in regards of your SAR, and tell them they have not provided you with the recordings as requested and they have debited the £10 for this request.
The ICO may actually contact them on your behalf, if your having problems.

FOS link here to complain to them ion regards of FP
