PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I received a phone call from the Alliance and Leicester about 3 weeks ago giving me information on two loans I had taken out in 2005-2006 & 2006 -2007 saying they might have wrongly took PPI from me. A week later I received a letter with an offer for each loan totalling just over £1400. They did state that it would be paid by cheque if I accpeted this 'full and final offer' so I called them asking why pay by cheque when my account with them is still active and you admit to wrongly taking money from me for the 3 years I had the loan? They replied it is company policy (same old story) and I would have to write in to accept and receive the cheques. Asking how long it would take I was informed 6 weeks, however I completed the acceptance form immediately, popped it in the post and the cheques came to me 2 weeks later:T (last Friday to be exact). I went to the local A & L to pay it in and they said it would take 5 working days to clear!!
Asking why when it was money from A & L to an A & L account I was again informed it was standard clearance time?? 5 weeks + 1 weeks clearing is a long time and more interest for them that I should have been getting . I am glad that I didn't claim for my bank charges before, even though I have completed the letters from this site, I thought I would hold off. I am amazed at how easy it was, and they contacted me:D ?
My friend is now contacting them to see what he can get back. Hope others get a good response.
Congratulations Derek
Great work, well done.:T:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Well I got two cheques from Firstplus today in settlement of my claim via the FOS. Whoopee! I am going to Spain on tuesday for my niece's wedding and this means I can now relax a bit. It also means I can now get her a gift, this means so much to me. Thank you to everyone who has given me advice, this site is fanatastic. But I would also like to say what brilliant service from the FOS. I only referred my claim to them in March 09.
:money::j

Probably why the banks are loosing money, because every job is done more than once!
Can't beat a well run office!

Hi there
I think it may be worthwhile you contacting "Companies house" on this one, tell them you only require for the address details:
http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk//contact/contactUs.shtml
Hopefully they will be able to confirm this one to you, you can also do a company search up until 12 midnight I think it is to check companies out, where you should be able to find addresses, but as there are so many Renault services, I think by ringing for the address may be quicker.
http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk/a9682ab68fc37afa295747f4ce8db313/wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo
Also when your ready to reclaim, once you receive the details, post back and we can help you through this, meanwhile here is the link to PPI reclaiming here:

Good luck.
If for some reason any company have gone bust or down under then, they may be registered under the Financial compensation Scheme (FSCS), you can always ring them if this is the case and ask for a claim form, but ask if they are registered first here:
http://www.fscs.org.uk/contacts/
Hope this helps for now, but if I see any details on these I shall post them up for you.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi All, just a quick update, I received my 4th fob off letter from Barclays today advising me they are still investigating the issue and will contact me again in 4 weeks with an update. What a joke, talk about stalling tactics. x0

Hi there
If the 8 weeks have passed and your still receiving these letters, you are entitled to move this on to the FOS if you want to.;)

Good luck, hope you hear soon with good news. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi all
After much stalling by Barclays, i have finally recieved my letter from the FO detailing that Barclays must settle this complaint in my favour in four weeks from the date of the letter - was the 10th June.
So happy that it will soon all be over! Barclays have really behaved horribly throughout the whole process and are constantly delaying things. Infact, the FO even put in the letter that compensation should be paid for them disputing my complaint when they knew i would win! Lovely stuff :rotfl:
I'm a happy bunny but i'll be even happier when the money is in my account! I fully expect them to take the full 4 weeks to do so but never mind. It's on it's way :-)
