Been offered a refund of PPI by Capital One on my credit card.

It has an outstanding balance which has been sold onto a debt collection agency.

Capital One offered me a good will gesture (which is close to what I should have got anyway), but was to be taken off the balance owed to the dca.

I wanted a cheque so I could do it myself (how very trusting!), so I wrote to Cap1 stating that seeing as the debt had been sold on, they should be refunding the premiums to me directly as the addition of unnecessary premiums to my monthly balance had contributed to my debt.

Received a letter a few days ago asking me to sign the settlement form, and a personal cheque would be on the way.

ME (ON BEHALF OF OH) VERSUS LLOYDS TSB PPI ON A LOAN MISS SOLD

Sent my first template letter thanks to mse beginning of august 2008 for claim of misselling ppi - lloyds tsb. Recieved the usual fob off letter so quickly posted the second letter - many thanks here to di and others who confirmed this response was standard and not to let it put me off. Received final response letter a week later and so went straight off to fos.

Fast forward to today, I knew a couple of weeks ago I had been successful. Paid a total of 60 months ppi at £50 a month - (though I know think more like £53 a month) Received letter from lloyds saying loan now refinanced and will be £53 less a month for remainder and two amounts will be credited to the bank within 21 days - the ppi I paid of £3285 and another seperate payment of £869.95 made up of £200 compensation and £667.95 interest. They paid up stating it was a gesture of goodwill blah blah blah - as if they would pay out over £4000 if they genuinely didn't think they needed too - am off now to send letter to fos re lloyds tsb ppi on credit card as have received their final response from that as a big no no today as well!! - More fool them I say as the ppi was only around £200 paid out in total and I will now ask for this plus my 8% interest and £200 compensation for distress and inconvenience.

    Hi taylor

I am so pleased for you, that's fantastic news. Don't suppose your claim was before 2005 was it, (me clutching at straws, as mine was).

    Go and enjoy spending it.

    Hi Taylor

Yes, it offers some encouragement, but Lloyds were regulated and although Black Horse are one and the same, they were not at that time. My loan was March/April 2004.

Glad to see you will be getting rid of another credit card. If I won most of mine will be going the same way.

    Once again well done

    Fingers crossed

A few weeks ago I was refunded £1400. by HSBC. All PPI premiums i paid and interest and it only took about 10 weeks. Result. Next time I will not be pushed into anything i'm not sure about and i'll shop around.

    Cheers
