PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I reclaimed mis-sold PPI from a loan sold to me by Beneficial Finance (part of the HFC Group). I first sent them a letter back in September 2007, and it's taken this long, and taking them to the financial ombudsman in order for them to finally make me a settlement offer. I have now just had a little over £3,000 refunded to me- which I've used to pay off other debts, helping me get more set financially for the future.
I couldn't have done this without this site, and the letter templates and encouragement it provides- so THANK YOU!!!0 -

Would not have attempted this, if is was not for this site!! Good luck to everyone else who is trying.0 -
It appears that the guy at HSBC who sorted out my loan restructure did not have a clue what he was talking about when he said I would not be getting the £5k back. It was paid into my bank account today......happy days.0

I downloaded the PPI reclaim form from this website about 3 months ago and have since received 4 letters from HSBC saying they are still dealing with my complaint and hope to have an answer for me soon. Despite giving themselves a deadline of 4 more weeks, they have now gone over this and I have had to contact the Financial Ombudsman...
After giving the FO your address, how long have people been waiting before you hear anything?
Has anyone else contacted HSBC about this?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Many thanks0 -

Hi there
HSBC certainly stalled on this one haven't they?
So you contacted the FOS for a complaint form and your waiting for this to come through the post, is this what you mean?
It can be a matter of a few days to a week perhaps.
Did you know if you have a printer you can also download and print from the FOS site? There may be other ways on their site, its best to check here:

Let them know in the complaints form of the time HSBC has had and because nothing has been resolved in more than 8 weeks they had and more, you feel you should now move this on, so where-as you've no final response to enclose, but enclose copies of other correspondence you have received from HSBC.
Good luck with this and post for help when you need to.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
