    What were you reclaiming: Loan
    Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £701.25
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One letter
And then write your brief reclaim tale

Sent my letter off on 1st April 2009, received the standard reply from them on 7th April. Then on 30th April got another letter from them asking for a further 4 weeks, then 27th May got a letter from them saying "Whilst I do not accept the allegations you have set out, on this occasion I am prepared to settle your complaint, without any admission of liability".
I sent the accetance form off the same day, the very next day I got a phone from HSBC to make an appointment with them to reconstruct my loan.

I went into the branch last week to re-do my loan at the same rate, which it is but received my new contract in the post today to sign and send back but have noticed that I am being charged £82.38.

My original loan repayments were £136.65 plus £23.81. I was told my new payments would be £136.65 but because this £82.38 has been added on I'm now paying £145.82

    Is this right?
personally i think you have been fobbed off, from what you are saying you havent got your full ppi back with interest just a basic good will gesture, can i ask why you did not go to fos and just accepted this? if you had won mis sell you would have been better off, just because they dont agree you were mis sold does not mean they are right. this is another attempt by banks to put you off and make you go away.

further to what 2Kelly has said, I had a letter from HSBC saying they were prepared to pay back £5k in PPI but I had to go and restructure my loan. Had a meeting with them on Friday and after the restructure they have informed me that I won't be receiving any of the £5k.

    Can this be right?

    Hi Dave

This one has confused me....., so in writing they confirmed you would be getting back the £5K, and if you structure the loan for a new loan without PPI included, you won't be receiving the £5K????

I would check on this because you have in writing you would be receiving this amount and now you won't be.

I would take to the FOS if this was me, but make sure on this one first, good luck.;)

I reclaimed mis-sold PPI from a loan sold to me by Beneficial Finance (part of the HFC Group). I first sent them a letter back in September 2007, and it's taken this long, and taking them to the financial ombudsman in order for them to finally make me a settlement offer. I have now just had a little over £3,000 refunded to me- which I've used to pay off other debts, helping me get more set financially for the future.

I couldn't have done this without this site, and the letter templates and encouragement it provides- so THANK YOU!!!

  • First time posting.... Sent a letter to Central Capital 8 weeks ago, claiming misold PPI. Received an offer of £4480. One letter and the price of one first class, recorded delivery letter. :j

Would not have attempted this, if is was not for this site!! Good luck to everyone else who is trying.

Thanks so much to all who answered my question. I did not realise that I would be paying for the insurance over the 15 years of the loan and I was not told I could get shop around for my own insurance. I thought it strange that they offered a "goodwill gesture" if they were 100% convinced I didn't have a case. So I am going to take your advice and go to the FOS. Do I have to write to First Plus to tell them I am not accepting their offer? Thanks again.
Received letter this morning from Firstplus saying previous letter was final response so it's off to FOS. Wish me luck !

i echo what di said, if i were you i would go to fos, if you have arrears on the loan they can take that off so unless you were 5ooo in arrears they are wrong, think they are pulling a fast one here
