  • At least you got to the point of filling forms with Halifax, my complaint was sent and aknowlaged in September and nothing has happened so far. Phone call after the other since the "typical 6 weeks period" stated on their letter and no joy. I received however a letter of apology yesterday for the delay and that was after a meltdown on the phone a couple of weeks ago.

No point in having a "meltdown" if the Bank is swamped with complaints then it will obviously struggle to keep to the eight week (not six) deadline.

You do realise that your complaint may still be rejected, regardless of how long it takes?
  • Once again thanks to this site! Complaint made to Lloyds & payment received of £6,657.58 for myself and £2,377.37 for my husband using the Resolver tool :T:T

Halifax could not find any details of my credit card, I only had the last 4 digits of the card number so possibly not enough information.

Barclaycard have also sent a text regarding a complaint from my husband and advised they have paid a refund and he should receive it within the next 10 days. So in total so far between us we have received over £11k - all using either the Resolver tool or taking advice from others here and directly contacting the banks etc. Thank you all for taking the time to contribute & passing on your guidance

  • I do not believe that they are busier then any other bank. Yet Barclays, Barclaycard, lloyds and Mbna all resolved the cases within the time scale. And the letter said 6 weeks not 8.

Why have you waited all this time for a response from Halifax?.
You should have made a complaint to FOS well before now, as is your right.
  • I have recently claimed and been refused a refund of my miss sold PPI from Advantage finance. Has anyone who had PPI with Advantage ever received a policy as I never did. It was on my credit agreement. Trying to discover whether or not the policies were actually under written. My thought is no they weren’t. If they were then who was the underwriters.

It doesn't matter what the letter said, the bank had eight weeks to consider your complaint before you gained the right to refer your complaint to the Ombudsman.

What other banks have achieved is irrelevant.

As I said, you may be having "meltdowns" about a complaint they will ultimately reject. So calm down and refer your complaint to FOS if you feel they are dragging their heels.
  • BlackHorse Succes!! £479 cheque received for a PPI from October 2000 on a small £1000 loan I had with them. They don't really show working outs but apparently can't refer to Ombudsman anyway as its pre 2005.
But still happy and will go to paying off debts.
  • Just as an aside - can anyone comment on how long Lloyds generally take to transfer awards into bank accounts ?

I know they have 28 days but should I expect them to be quick, slow or just totally random?

Thanks again for all the advice thus far.

    HI,

I got £256 pounds back from Nat West, after PPI was charged on some loans I had way back in the mid-90's. I had no knowledge of this PPI charge as it was never explained to me. They ask lots of questions, but if you can't remember things from back then, don't worry, the money should still be yours.
However, Santander are really dragging their feet regarding some store cards which I had back in early 2000's, which again I was charged PPI without my knowledge. I've had 6 letters from them now, plus a questionnaire, which was the same form that I filled in online! They keep asking me for more info, but I have told them I cannot remember everything, only that I was missold PPI on these cards; they have the account numbers of both of them.

Don't give up on claiming, they want to try and stop you I think, such a different experience to Nat West.....Santander are terrible in my experience!!
