  • Very unlikely.
  • Thanks for the reply. I don't have a copy of the loan agreement just a six monthly statement of the loan repayments. This contains just the loan number.

As you had no joy on the telephone, you should ask the Bank (in writing) whether this loan had PPI.

However, it may be that there are no longer any records 23 years later.
  • Thanks for the reply. If they no longer have record of the loan would that be the end if the matter?

Yes, since neither you nor they will ever know if there was PPI.

  • I initially used a claims company to find if I had outstanding ppi. The Halifax disclosed p.p.i. on two previous accounts. On pursuing the claim myself the Halifax sent me a six (yes 6!) page questionnaire for EACH account. Now, at this moment I'm of the belief that this is a stall tactic : 1. Halifax identified these accounts on disclosure.
    2. Evidently, Halifax already have the details of these.
    3. On recognition of p.p.i. on these, what prevents Halifax
following this up with the information it already has?
Has anyone else had this from the bank "that's always giving you extra" hassle ??

That would be a strange belief, as it would increase the amount they may need to pay out.

They need details of your complaint. Simply having PPI wasn't an issue.
  • Probably right! Best settle down and wade through the questionnaires. My relationship with Halifax was never a happy one.....
  • Halifax send the same forms to everyone. Worth completing though as I just received £9,260 after completing two forms.
