They would need a new instruction letter signed by you to have made the claim re the Plevin, if you did not sign this, you owe them nothing. You have the letter from them to say the case is closed, it certainly is.0

Hi all, I claimed ppi through a company years ago and received about £2k back in total from loans and credit cards with both Halifax and egg.
Sometime in November I received a cheque for £78 from Canada square saying they had recalculated the ppi on the card and I realised they hadn’t mentioned the loans.
On the off chance I went through the resolver site and queries whether they had refunded on the loans. Turned out they hadn’t!
I started the claim end of November and within a week I’d had questionnaires to complete. I had life insurance, and my work has a 6 month full pay, and death in service benefit which I told them about when I took out a £15k loan (car and home improvements) and I paid that loan off about two years later when I remortgaged my house.
I got a letter on 10th jan from Canada square upholding my claim and we’re refunding me £5568!
I got another one from Halifax on 11th Jan refunding me £9685!!
Cheques received and banked today:):)

Made the claim through Resolver (thanks Martin).
They should be thanking you as they have all your information which they can use on an aggregated basis to sell for marketing. After I had pursued the case via Resolver LLoyds TSB finally paid up. LFS then contacted me a week later claiming 30%!
Does anyone know whether I should pay LFS or not.
Did you cancel the service they were providing or do nothing?
Did you Lloyds issue a new complaints reference number or did the same one?
Basically, if there was a gap and Lloyds reopened the case it is yours. If its the same complaint with additional info supplied via resolver which allowed them to change the decision then you have to share it with the CMC.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
I used Resolver for two claims.
Lloyds for a £7k loan from 12 years ago, settled with no additional info required, £4433
MBNA credit card from 20 years ago, phone call for further information, then settlement letter 2 days later for £4989
In both cases my argument was that I was not told that the PPI was optional because, although I cannot remember specific conversations from so long ago, I know that I would not have added the insurance if I knew I didn't have to.
As a result of my success, one of my colleagues is now trying to claim for a couple of store cards she had :-)0 -
Just had a sucessful PPI refund on an old Cahoot card - applied online through the Santander site and 6 weeks later just under £3000 was credited to my account :j
I've used the Credit Club Experian records to go through all my old accounts and put in enquiries, and yesterday finally got my OH to dig out his old paperwork showing PPI payments and submit complaints. Fingers crossed!0 -

What were you reclaiming: Credit Card
Who was the provider: Barclaycard (MasterCard)
How much did you get back: £3900
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Filled in Barclaycard online Complaint form 15th Jan, text to say refund sent today.
And then write your brief reclaim tale
I had 2 cards with Barclaycard, a MasterCard and a Visa. Both cards were taken out on same day in 1990. PPI was paid for 10 years. Barclaycard have upheld MasterCard complaint but not looked at the Visa yet. Thank you very much for all the advice on this site.0 -
I'm not sure if I can do it like this, but here goes. I am in the process of writing to various companies about PPI refunds using the templates supplied in the MSE site. Some of the letters require me to send £1:00 with the letter? How do I do this? as I don't want to enclose a coin?
This bear of little brain can't work it out0
