See without going too much into it in could be completely wrong! But from working my figures out I paid back roughly around £3100 more than I should have after interest. That's why I think the offer of £444 is not the best offer.

What are the figures on the credit agreement or statements? This is what the bank will be using.

I actually don't have the documents. So it makes it harder for me to see where I stand with this offer. Just seems very unreasonable.

What were you reclaiming: 1 Loan
    Who was the provider: NatWest
How much did you get back: £3,561.42
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 telephone call.
And then write your brief reclaim tale: Let me just pick myself off the floor.
I have been putting this off for ages, lack of confidence with my finances for the most part, but in January of this year I saw on MSE a list of bank phone numbers so thought what the hell I'll give it a go, spoke to a very plesant chap who informed me of 2 loans and a mortgage going back to 2002, I was very surprised at how far back they went.
The only information I could honestly give was to get the mortgage I had to take out the payment protection. A few days later I received a txt my case was on going and I would be done by the 11th of April, well this morning I received a settlement offer of three and a half grand, not an April fool I hope.
ONE phone call I made, what a result :j :rotfl:
  • Hi, I wondered whether I have a good case to keep pushing Nationwide for PPI sold on a personal loan from 2001.

They have been investigating my claim and today I received a letter from them saying they were not upholding my complaint. However the letter is full of errors.

Firstly they state twice in the letter that the loan and PPI were taken out in 2003 (no month and no date) - this is two years after I took them out (I have the exact date when the loan and PPI started in 2001). Also they state the wrong age for when I took out the loan and also the wrong length of time I was at my then company.

This leads me to believe they haven't properly reviewed the case and had they been reviewing the information they hold from the time of the sale (as it states in their letter) surely they wouldn't get the information wrong.

Would it make sense to ask for a copy of the credit agreement to clarify the situation?

Sorry for my slightly rambling post!

You can pay the £10 to get that if you wish.

Or you can just refer your complaint to the FOS at no cost.

    ----******* UPDATE *******____
Received another letter of RBS this morning informing me they have awarded me £1347.02 against my mortgage PPI.
So a grand total of £4,908.44 for 1 phone call that I was nervous about making.
Thank you Martin and Team, and reading other people's success stories this money will be a great help.

Hi did you have all your paperwork from the 90's out of interest? I have loans from the 90's and early 2000 that I don't have paperwork for so have been wondering whether to bother with ppi claims...
