PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Back in the 90's & early 00's we had several Barclayloan products - we refinanced several times and it was all done over the phone - credit was (too) easy back then. We recently received a letter from Barclays suggesting that we might have been mis-sold PPI and inviting us to go online and complete their form to see if we were entitled to anything. I was a bit sceptical but looked on the relevant section of MSE and decided to give it a go. I wasn't sure how to word things but the MSE templates really helped. I completed the form 2 weeks ago. Last week we got a letter acknowledging the claim and telling us they were looking into it. This week we received a cheque for £16,735!!!! We were stunned and I cannot thank MSE enough for providing me with the courage to give it a go.
You should also be thanking Barclays as they wrote to you giving you the invitation to complain and telling you how easy it was. Indeed, you didnt need any templates from this website. Barclaycard may have done wrong initially but they were honest enough to write to you and put their hands in their pocket to put it right.

I went through a claims company to recover misold PPI. So far I have received £24,500. I know I could have done it myself and received the whole amount, but I didn't because I had a knock back from Laura Ashley and thought I'd receive the same response for other claims. I didn't. My biggest payout was for £12,400 from Capital One.:j
I am now pursuing Goldfish, but my claims company say that because my 10 year old account was closed on 2007 and the account was not transferred to Barclays, they cannot pursue it for me. Not sure where to go now. Has anyone had a similar account and had any success? Thanks in anticipation0 -

A claims company got around 12 grand for posting a letter, nice work, do you want to pay me that much for sending your mail?
If you have no records left then no your goldfish complaint is at an end as you can't prove you had it or paid it.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Hi I'm new to this so apologies if there is already info about this on here. I was missold PPI by Mortgage Matters in 2007, they told us our application would be rejected if we didn't take it. I'm having trouble finding details of how to contact them as there seems to be lots of companies with similar names out there? Any help would be appreciated.
I've already successfully reclaimed over £30000 from HSBC/BARCLAYCARD from the advice on this site so I really want to get this one sorted also.
Thanks0 -

If PPI was not a requirement of the mortgage then that is a lie. (and it woudlnt have been in 2007). The broker themselves may have had a requirement to buy insurance through them to get the mortgage via them. That is allowed. However, the insurance has to be suitable.
Do you have any evidence to back up your allegation that the mortgage would be rejected if you didnt buy PPI?
Was it actually PPI that was sold or something different? (people often mistake life assurance for PPI)I'm having trouble finding details of how to contact them as there seems to be lots of companies with similar names out there?
How did you find them in the first place?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I am so happy, I have been trying for 2 years to get a PPI claim with Co-operative bank and they kept saying that as it was from 1997 for a loan and I know I had paid PPI, and we didn't have the documents, they didn't have the documents, I couldn't claim.
Today I received a cheque for over £1k from them, I know it is for that loan, as the only other loan we took out was 2006 and we didn't have PPI on that one.
The only thing is on the letter it states my refund therefor covers the period which is from 22nd Oct 2010 until the loan issue closure date?
But who is complaining I have a cheque, Yeh
It is really worth sticking to itThanks to all who post compsITV winners membersclub#20 -
No I've no evidence it was what the pushy sales woman told me when I questioned it. I have googled them again and it says company dissolved0
