What were you reclaiming: store card
Who was the provider: GE Money, now Santander
How much did you get back: £4,337
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: First complaint letter failed. FOS couldn't help. Second complaint letter upheld.
I opened a store card in Dorothy Perkins in 2000. I was a skint student and told just to "sign by the x to get your discount today - the rest of the form doesn't matter". I complained last year and received a letter from Santander in August saying they were not upholding my claim as I wasn't "advised" to take out PPI (I didn't even know I had!) and had plenty of opportunities to cancel since. I wrote to the FOS who stated that it was pre-regulation and so not something they could help with. So I requested my employment records for 2000 from HMRC and sent them back to Santander before Christmas alongside a complaint that I was not only ineligible, but also unaware of the PPI that I was charged.
Today I received another Final Response from Santander upholding my claim to the tune of £4,337 - very happy as I knew I should have been owed something.:j :j :j DEBT-FREE JULY 2015! :j :j :j0 -
Well done.
The Santander > FOS > Genworth route is proving successful for a number who were students with Burtons, Top Shop etc store cards back in 2000 onwards. Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -
Contacted Aviva on 9th January after being told they would look into my earlier Welcome Finance loan. I did everything over the phone, no forms, got a call today to say they are upholding my complaint and to expect a refund via bacs in 5 days, they emailed me the letter after the call.
Loan was for £1500, will receive £411. Absolutely thrilled!:staradmin :staradmin Emergency Fund @ £300 Non CCJ Debts x 7 @ £2782/ £4055 PAID! OMG, I had a call from a company back in November 2015 who said they would investigate any mis-sold PPI from credit card companies I had used. I was sick of receiving similar calls so I just gave them my information thinking nothing would come of it because the last time I had a credit card was back in 2007. Last week I received a letter from Barclaycard who had agreed that they mis-sold me PPI from 1999 - 2001 and they would refund the money to my account. Today I recieved a payment of £352.00 On top of that, Barclays have also refunded £12,000 to my account just 3 days ago for mis-sold PPI on 2 loans I had with them since 2002. I am in shock but obviously totally delighted and really can't believe I got such a huge refund.0

Make sure you're sitting down when you see the bill from the claims company for simply posting a letter out - it'll be north of £3500-4000 and will be popping onto your mat next weekSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Was 'credit card repayment protector' on a credit card bill, the same thing as PPI? Bank has said they have no record of PPI on my cards, yet I've found a few statements where 'credit card repayment protector' is shown and charged. Thanks.Big thanks to Martin Lewis for helping us start to sort out our finances!!!:A

Very happy to have received £840 from Barclaycard for my Egg Card PPI mis-selling in January. I have now successfully reclaimed PPI for my Egg Loans, Egg Card and packaged bank account charges for Barclays going back to 2001 totalling more than £5k. This site has been invaluable to me in doing so.Original Total: £34200.78 / Current Total: £24017.00 (July 2017) -29.88%!

Reclaimed PPI on behalf of my husband 3 years ago and he got about £2,500.
DD was talking last year about reclaiming PPI through a company(EEK!!),I told her about this site and she did it herself and got just over£3,000-for free.

Hi its Mike here,
My wife had PPI with Barclaycard more than ten years ago we contacted Barclays they said because the claim was over 6 years ago they would need more information this is after we gave them the old Barclay credit card No,(we still have the card) but not valid now, plus account No, plus the sentinel policy No, that we had with them , we were with a claim company but with no success. So we are trying to do it ourselves. Do you think we have a case people.0 -
I have a credit card with Natwest and got £759 back, originally in 2012 they refused and I didn't take it any further but after hearing about other success stories I complained again and this time after a quick phone call with Natwest they sent me the offer0
