PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to Martin & the team for giving me the info needed to claim back my ppi. Originally claimed for several credit cards/loans back in 2012/13, all of which paid out, some after Ombudsmen intervention. The money I got back went towards the deposit on my first home.
I thought that was it so imagine my surprise when I opened a letter last week from the Halifax telling me that they had reassessed/recalculated my case and they owed me a further £7700!! I was over the moon especially as I am just about to go on maternity leave and was a little concerned about my finances whilst I take a year out! Hoping that some of the others might reassess as well!!
So thank you again for arming me with the confidence and knowledge to take on the banks and claim back what was rightfully mine. As you can see the money has been used to fund the two biggest things to happen in my life!! :j0 -
Followed the instructions and just recd £400 from a card. Also a rejection from GE Money for a claim to First National Bank. They give Limitation Act 1980 as excuse, though I will pursue it further with full documentation on the loan with clear PPI details. The Rejection says I can complain to the Finance and Leasing Association (FLA). However, it seems they can only arbitrate and have no teeth to enforce a claim. Has anyone had dealings with FLA. Thanks again for the bonus £400.0

Thank you.
Made a PPI claim against Sainsburys from a Credit card taken out in 1997, just had a letter confirming £4,400 will be paired into my account. Thank you Martin Lewis.0 -

Why did you employ a PPI company and then end up chasing it yourself? Get back to the PPI company and tell them to do this.
If they have said they won't progress it, get it in writing before going any further in case you get lucky and they then try and bill you.
If it was a storecard from pre-2005 you need to try New Day not GE as New Day run the scheme now. Don't hold out hope either way though as GE didn't sell you anything so aren't liable for the miss-saleSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Made a claim against HSBC for a gold credit card I'd held for over 13 years. Used a template and successfully claimed £19,600!! A lot of this amount was interest.0

So excited right now.
Have to admit I didn't do it myself as I thought I had no chance of getting anything back so thought I would use a PPI reclaim company as it would stop me wasting my time if I didn't get anywhere and if I got anything then I would happily pay the fee !!
Claimed for PPI for two small loans (approx. 2 x £1500 I think) I had over 15 years ago with HSBC. I had no details of these accounts whatsoever - no statements, account numbers, amounts I borrowed - nothing. I have however stayed with the same bank all this time so think this may have helped the PPI reclaim company to trace.
I have previously been told I couldn't claim for a loan this old (have been previously told you cant clam for loans over 10 years old).
Today I got over £1000 (after PPI reclaim company deductions) into my account.
I am completely over the moon. Just wanted to let people know its worth chasing even if you have no details of the loans and they are old !!!!
Thanks so much

So fully a third of your redress you paid to a company. That £500 has to be one expensive postage stamp!
Well done, regardless...0 -

And the sad thing is that you could have done everything yourself and kept £1500
When you say "helped the claims company trace" what they actually did was
a) ring up the bank
b) ask if you ever had any PPI
c) complain about it
None of which justifies £500 paymentSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
